I think these are the cutest boots, but they do run very tight around the calves, especially if you have dancer calves like I do. I bought a pair and had to return them, because although they fit without the fashion sock or my jeans tucked in, I wouldn't be able to wear them with anything except leggings. I would recommend trying a pair on in the store before ordering.

I do love my Hunter's boots, but I have to say that most of that comes from loving the brand name. I just got my 2nd pair because the first developed holes in both boots (after about 5 months of ownership and not much use). I'm hoping this pair keeps my feet dry and stays true to the color. The purple shade is beautiful, and goes with almost every color you will be wearing. It's dark enough to be unobtrusive to your outfit, but still gives you the fun color punch. My first pair didn't stay true to the original color and developed a waxy white shade. Supposedly, this is what happens, but it still looks terrible. I tried all the "fixes" (ie, putting tire shining oils and protectors on them). So, if I was a smart shopper, I probably would have bought another brand since these didn't look nice and didn't keep my feet dry (is there any other reason for rain boots?). I'm hoping my first pair was a fluke and this pair turns out perfect.

I was extremely disappointed in this boot. I got them in yesterday and tried them on, it was difficult to get my foot all the way in, my heel seemed to get stuck half way down. Then when I finally got them on, the shoe part was huge and sloppy. I typically wear 7 and a half or 8, but I got the 7 and they were still huge. However, the leg part fit fine, but there is no way I could wear them with pants, even skinny jeans. They looked bad on me, and I do not have wide calves. However, they look great. For someone that they can fit on properly, I would recommend them. Unfortunately this was not the case for me.

All the rave reviews must come from people with seriously skinny legs. I have slender calves, but these boots are too tight around the top, so tight I cannot wear them! How can anyone tuck jeans into these boots? What a disappointment.

These were the third pair of Wellies that I bought. I loved my first ones so much they got worn to the point of not being fit for public wearing. They were the best. Since I practically lived in them I needed a replacement pair. I ordered the Yellow Wellies (Yellies!). They were not of the same quality as my first pair. They are flimsy, do not feel as conformed to the foot and instead of having the raised painted-on HUNTER name, it is a plastic sticker which I am sure is going to peel off one of these days. Even when I am not wearing them, and both pairs are side by side, the first pair holds its shape and stands up. Whereas the "yellies" are limp and tend to fall over easily.

After a few weeks of sunshine, I was excited for some rain so I could test out my new boots. Unfortunately, after a short walk between the car and the post office. I was really surprised to end up with wet socks. I'm going to have to return these. Hopefully it's just a defective pair.

Very nice BUT... I love this boot BUT...I ordered several pairs of the size 6 women's in the chocolate color and found every pair to be very dirty looking. There is a white film on the boots that produces a look like someone threw powder all over them. I understand that Hunter's original boot are made of rubber and give off a dusty effect in warmer climates. In order to rid off the waxy, dusty effect, one can use a damp cloth to wipe it down and it would take care of it. However, with every pair ordered, this was not the case. There is something wrong with the boot. Maybe it is a bad batch from the manufacturer. I do not know. I have this same boot in the pumpkin color and it was not like the chocolate colored pair. Also, my cousin had purchased this boot in the chocolate color back in Sept 2008 and her pair is perfect. Her pair has a nice glossy look with no white dusty film. I will reorder this pair in another month to see if there is a better looking pair.

Not for a gal w/ a wider calf - I loved the look of these on other people. Know how trendy they are, just HAD to have ‘em. I exercise like a fiend and have big muscular calves. Always been a problem. I figured with these, look at the adjustable buckle on top - they must fit. NOPE! They are skinny all the way up, no room for expansion. I kept them anyway and wear them occasionally if I am gonna be on a quick errand, but could never wear them all day because of the tightness up top.

Brands I'd also recommend: Any rain boot that has a wider up top calf.

Silver paint rubs off!! These are awesome boots and look great. However, after a week of use, the silver paint started to rub off the soles, toes, and sides of the sole. With continued use I would have ended up with a half silver, half grey rubber boot. They are just silver painted grey rubber which look great, but beware if you are really going to wear them. Zappos customer service rocked as always and was happy to take them back.

The legendary Hunter Wellies were outsourced in 2008. What used to last 20 years plus now only last 2 years tops. I already have a crack through the sole of both pairs leaving my feet cold and wet. These are so not worth the money.

At first I loved these boots; they worked perfectly with a pair of skinny jeans or leggings, they are very cute, but they are not durable. I have had them almost 2 years, and they are no longer waterproof, basically I end up standing in water, cold wet feet are not cute. I wish I could replace them or somehow fix them for a reasonable price because they are so cute, but I can't justify spending this much on rainboots that barely lasted over a year (I think they started leaking last Spring).

This is my third pair of original Hunters. I wear them for both function and good looks around town, muddy wet weather, the pasture and barnyard. My other two pair are just worn out and I was excited to get a new pair. Unfortunately, it seems to me as if Hunter has found a cheaper way to produce this boot and I feel like I'm walking around in bad knock-offs. There's a popping under one foot with each step, the once fabulous arch support is gone and the rubber is thinner. And if that's not enough, the new boot is about 1/2 inch taller and hits my leg just below my knee and rugs the skin off even though my pants. Too bad. Now wear am I going to find a cute pair of functional rubber boots???

I bought these boots for my daughter in advance of going off to college in September. They are cute, fit well and protect against the elements. When we we visited campus everybody had them and wore them with everything. One less thing to worry about. We got the matching wellies for the cold.

I had wanted a pair of Hunter original boots for years, and finally late last winter I bought them, in green. They were so cute when I was not wearing them. Unfortunately they were too tall for my legs, hitting me right at the knee. I am 5 4. It was a struggle to tuck in my jeans (I had to use strapping tape around the ankles), and they looked ridiculous (thin rubbery-green lower legs and big puffy denim thighs), so I would have needed to invest in different pants or tights to wear with them. The boots were pricey enough by themselves. As I was tromping around my house, deciding whether to keep the boots, I walked upstairs so I could look at the boots in the hall mirror. Each step up was painful, the boots ramming the tendons behind my knees. Ouch, ouch, ouch! That was the final straw. I sadly returned them. I then ordered a pair of short Hunter boots in black. I normally wear a size 8.5 and ordered size 8 (UK size 39) based on reviews that they ran large. The boots fit fine. They are 10 inches tall, instead of 16 inches like the tall boots, and hit about mid-shin. They don't have the same British charm. In fact, they kind of remind me of fireman boots. But they are funky and waterproof and they are perfect for wet snow and rain puddles. My short boots have already seen a lot of use. I love them. I do hope that someday Hunter will make boots that are 14 inches tall; they would look similar to the original boots but could be worn by women of average height.

I ordered the wrong size on these, they were too wide on my legs and very heavy. I recommend a different type of Hunters. Also thought there would be more sheen in the color, but it's basically flat.

I'm very disappointed with these boots. In under one year with moderate use, they leak rainwater and one buckle has come off. They are very stylish (for a rain boot) and are practically part of the standard issue foul weather uniform here in NYC, paired with a classic trench. I assumed an English hunting boot could handle Manhattan sidewalks -- but no!

I really am disappointed with the way these boots look after only wearing a few times. They look old and discolored and I have only worn 3 times. I really thought they would last longer since they were so expensive. I wish I had gone with either another color or brand.

I am very unhappy with the quality. The plastic that holds the buckle on the top broke the 2nd time these were worn. For the price I would expect high quality durable boots.

I bought my first pair of hunters about two years ago. I do not wear them regularly. I spent the money because of The reputation of hunters lasting for over 10 years. This is no longer true. My buckle strap broke and there is no way to fix it.

These boots are adorable -- but after owning them for a year, and only wearing them 3 times in my garden, they are in horrible condition. Be warned! I have since read others writing this elsewhere on line -- a weird film develops over the rubbed after a while, and then it starts to peel and the rubber starts to crack! No joke -- my boots are pretty much brand new because I've only worn them twice. This should not be happening. These are expensive. Buy another pair of boots from a different brand -- this brand changed its manufacturer (so I've heard), and the quality has gone downhill. They sell some kind of solution to help prevent cracking -- so maybe that would help, but there is no reason why the film should be peeling off. Also, I'm short (5'3"), and the boots hit my chins in an uncomfortable place (even with thick socks -- it hurts after a while), so I wouldn't recommend the tall style of these anyways for you short gals out there like me.

Brands I'd also recommend: Sorrell

These boots are for skinny to slim calves only. My calves, while not the slimmest, aren't exactly tree trunks, either, yet they didn't fit into these boots. My calf measure 14 in. at its thickest point, and these boots were just too narrow. Then it took me and my two kids about 10 minutes to pull the one boot off -- yikes. What a disappointment.

I do not recommend these boots if you have a narrow foot. I wear an 11 narrow, and I tried both the women's size 11 and 10, and I was somewhere in between, mostly because my foot had way too much room on the sides. These are also too heavy for me (despite that I workout/lift weights every day and am 5’9” tall). Given how much walking I have to do in rain boots, e.g. dog walks, to and from work and running errands, these just weren't for me. If my concerns/issues with these may apply to you, I'd suggest trying the Sorel Sorellington rain boot, which I got here on Zappos.com. They have amazing arch support, but order a size smaller than you'd normally wear because they run big.

I bought these boots in this purple color Zappos doesn’t seem to carry anymore. They were nice, but not great, had some issues with "blooming." Tried rubbing it off and that worked, kind of, but it just came back worse than ever. I’m really disappointed in how they look now with a whitish splotches/streaks of rubber all over them. I can’t even wear them without feeling self-conscious outside. They are at a shoe repair shop - maybe they can help fix my poor ugly boots (shoe repair dude said don’t hold my breath though). This was a waste of money.

I loved these wellies when I first got them and sadly they didn't hold up as rainboots. I had only had them for about 4 months and then my feet started getting wet. They are extremely cute and seemed durable at first, but for the money spent, your feet should stay dry. And btw I went with the advice of sizing down. I usually wear an 8 or 8 1/2, so when I first got them I went the 7 and they were too small. I got the 8 and they fit perfect. I guess I'll have to keep searching for cute rainboots:(
