You can't beat the look! I've been a fan of Chuck Taylor All Stars over the years as they have gone in and out of popularity. However, I am new to this particular shoe, so I cannot help but compare the two. These seem to run a full half size large. I returned mine for the smaller size and they were quite ample. They are also a more comfortable shoe. Also, they seem to be on the narrow side which works for me. I like them!

Brands I'd also recommend: Chuck Taylor's

Great shoe, but not for all day walking - Great looking simple alternative to Chuck T's. Like all canvas shoes of this style: no arch support, and may rub and cause blisters if worn without socks. These shoes give me a blister ONLY on the little toe of my right foot! The heel may rub a little, but if worn with socks no problems, still I wear them all the time in the summer without socks, just not on the days when I'll be walking a lot.

Careful! These shoes turned the first half dozen pair of socks I wore with them blue! The inside of the shoe is blue, and somehow it bleeds into your socks.

Brands I'd also recommend: Jack Purcell's are the classics, but check out the Chuck Taylors too

Great look; okay comfort - You can't do any better than the style of this for a casual tennie, and it's obviously more comfortable than sandals or whatever, but don't expect it to feel like you're wearing air-soled running shoes or anything. It's pretty flat, the inside of the tongue is kind of rough, and the interior seams rub a little. They look best with those low-cut socks that you can't see above the shoe line, but I found them to be too uncomfortable with those socks -- the canvas slides around a little (the shoes aren't too big -- just a little stiff) and with no lining, it's uncomfortable rubbing against my foot.

Classic Jacks - I sided with the people who suggested ordering a half size smaller than you normally would. I would ordinarily wear 8 1/2- I got the 8 and was glad I did. I have a narrow foot, and though these feel narrow in the toes, overall they fit well and don't slip in the heel. Even the narrowness in the toe area I would describe more as "secure" than "uncomfortable". The laces are a great touch. Not just an afterthought lace, these laces harken back to the days of quality shoe making. I ordered the white ones, and they are just as sharp and beautiful as Brangelina's teeth. The sneaks work well with casual skirts, capris, and jeans... I find they fit better than the Chuck Taylor's, which I had been tempted to buy in a shoe store. If you, reader, are also tempted to buy Chuck Taylor's because they are easier to find- DON'T!! The Jack's are a better fitting sneaker, and probably more what you are looking for.

Jack's not a tennis star - These Jack Purcell canvas sneaks are de rigeur for summertime wear. They were a little tight (narrow) in the toe, but not a deal breaker. I got a half size larger, but still narrow. Gotta get white. BTW, Jack Purcell was a badminton star, so much for macho.

The original Jack Purcell is better - This shoe has an odd fit. I have been buying the original Jack for years. This one bulges at the heel when you walk, making it look like corrective shoes.

JACK PURCELL - The shoe was pretty comfortable and it has a good look to it. They could cut back a little on the length of the shoe strings. Even when tied, they hang on the ground. I would buy them again. It hasn't helped my jump-shot though.

All and all, I love the shoes. At first the seam in the back gave me a blister, and it felt a little narrow in the toe area(especially on the little toe). But, after some wear, they're a bit more broken in, and still look great. The best part is you can wear them with a bunch of different stuff, they look great with jeans, or you can wear'em with a pair of casual dress pants for a real cool, funky look. Wish I could find them in a dark brown!!!

Brands I'd also recommend: Also try Tretorn, or PF Flyers

A Classic Look - I love this shoe for it's look, and the dark inside sole. It's not something I can wear all day as it gets uncomfortable after awhile. Overall, i am very happy with it and am going to purchase some other colors of this same style.

My Jacks! First of all I wear a size 9 in most shoes but a 7.5 in all Converse brands, they run a size and a half too big. I love the way my Jack Purcell's look, they go with everything. They are pretty uncomfortable though. They hurt my right pinky toe pretty bad. (Maybe I just have wide, fat feet)

Classic but still applicable to today's fashion - Although I needed to get a half size smaller than what I usually wear, I now have the correct size, and they fit very well. They look terrific, and after only having worn them twice I have received numerous compliments. They will probably only get better with a little wear and tear, so I recommend these shoes to anyone who likes to be original.

Very simple and stylish for stay at home mom - I have always loved this shoe. You can wear it with jeans, khaki pants or casual skirt or shorts. It runs big but worth finding the right size.

Great shoe. Shoes fit great and I've received many compliments on them. Don't expect very good arch support, and the shoes may be a bit narrow for some wider feet, but overall an excellent buy.

Cute! It did take a few tries to find the size that fit the best, but overall, it was worth it (I got a white pair and they look so cute with jeans!). The shoes are still on the narrow side, but the length is perfect (I am an 8.5 in women’s and ended up getting a 6/men’s 7.5/women’s). I'm hoping that they will fit more comfortably once I thoroughly break them in.

Great shoe!! Mostly everyone out there has there pair or two of Chuck Taylor's...but you’ll be hard fetched to find someone with some Jack's on... This shoe is definitely more comfortable than the Taylor too. Plus I stopped liking stars on my shoes when I was about 3.

Gift for my son - My son loved his Jack Purcell's. They are just what a hip college student wanted. I was glad for the free return option. The sneakers ended up fitting perfectly, but it was reassuring to know we could have sent them back for free if need be.

Good Looking Shoe - Good looking shoe. I rally like it. It runs about .5-1.0 size larger than nice. Get a half size smaller than normal. As for comfort, it’s a shoe that has been around for 30+ years (how comfortable could it be). I bought it for looks. It's not uncomfortable but I wouldn't go play a game of basketball in them. Hope this helps.

Great shoe, wish it had more arch support though - Very good-looking and inexpensive shoe, much cleaner-looking than the Chucks. I wish it had more support thought b/c it can hurt if you're on your feet a lot.
