Works as described. However created unwanted and ugly looking shape on my leather shoe.

Absorbs moisture very well. Would prefer the plastic simpler/cheaper models since they stretch the leather better then these wooden ones.

This tree is a little difficult to put in and take out of the shoe. I have other shoe trees that are hinged near the heel piece, which makes it much easier to get in and out of the shoe. Overall, not my favorite.

Woodlore's Combination Shoe Trees for Men - Shoe trees are very well made - good quality. They tend to be very large up front, and therefore do not fit many of today's modern, pointed shoes. Or they tend to stretch the shoe way too much!

Nice smell, hard to extract - Nice pungent cedar smell out of the box. We'll see after a year or so. The tree is a bit long (ordered a small for size 7 mens), and the shaft is fully compressed. The spreader in the front is a bit more awkward for narrow toe shoes (more a recent trend). Pulling it out is hard when fully inserted; just don't put the heel bit in and all the way down.

Testing the Woodlore's Shoe Tree - The Woodlore's shoe tree looks very different from other shoe trees, the only limitation that I have found is that when using it on shoes that are wide you have to use padding on each side as opposed to the old style where you could twist to open it wider...

Too big - The XL was too big for an 11.5 shoe. I had to use it in my other shoes, and will have to get more shoe trees for an 11.5.

Can't Get No Satisfaction - This product looks and smells just great. The problem I have with it is that I cannot get the darn things out of the shoe! For a 72 year old with tired hands, that's frustrating.

Brands I'd also recommend: Try the .99 cent store.

I guess I thought I might save some money and go with these Woodlore spring-extended combination trees, as I normally buy the much costlier full-cut J&M trees. Unfortunately, my experiment did not work out to my liking. The width of these Woodlore shoe trees is absolutely correct. However, I see the length as a major issue. They are much too short and do not support the far end of the toe area. I fully expect that certain creases that may occur in the shoe toe from wearing will not be remedied by these trees. I guess you get what you pay for. I will be returning all of these trees as part of my order and will be placing an order for the full cut J&M shoe trees, which although a whopping 60% costlier, in my experience is the only option for "filling out" the shoe.

Thanks for the splinters. Aren't they supposed to smooth these downs so I don't get a splinter using it?

Quality not up to par - The shoe tree tension isn't adjustable. Also, the shoe tree's heel seems to have too much of a point and is presently stretching the heel of my shoes. I love Zappos, but the quality of this shoe tree leaves something to be desired.

Bad choice. I will no longer pretend that I like this product. It is too hard to extract from the shoe and I'm afraid it will, in time, damage the shoe. Zappos, this product carries your label on a metal tag. Shame and fie on your house.

I place the SM size in 8.5/42 EUR loafers, made by Bruno Magli, Italian and expensive. The shoes had fit excellently until these stretched them. I believe the spring tension is too high. I also believe that these ought to be adjustment-based rather than spring-based. In any case, they did great damage to my shoes.

The size chart calls for a XXL for my size 15EE. They do not come close to filling the forefront of the shoe. The shoe trees appear well made, and the cedar is beautifull and airomatic. I will be returning them and continue searching for a larger size.
