These boots are absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, they didn't fit my "athletic" calves. I bought them in an 8.5 (I usually wear an 8), hoping they'd fit. If you're a bigger/muscular girl, you're probably going to be out of luck. They are gorgeous, though!

These boots were so so cool. The color was spot on. I tried on the left boot, it fit like a glove. The size was perfect, the leather warmed to my foot. The right boot would not go over my ankle. I wiggled, I stretched, I prayed. Nothing worked.

I have always wanted Frye boots, and once I scrounged enough money, I found these beauties in the distressed brown and fell completely in love. I read all the reviews (as not to waste my money) and decided to order half a size down. I'm normally an 8.5, so I went for the 8 figuring I would wear them with thinnish socks and tights. Once they arrived, I drooled over them for a while and marveled at their badass sexiness. When I slipped them onto my feet, I was impressed at how well they fit with just a little tug. But once I stood up, the reality hit me. These guys were far too narrow to stand in comfortably. They're heavy, yes. And stiff. Some breaking in might have worked but honestly it seemed like they would be way too painful to walk in. I really wanted to love them, but we were just weren't meant to be. I shipped them back and ordered some practically identical ones (Harley-Davidson Hustin) in an 8.5. Knowing Zappos they'll get here soon and I'm crossing my fingers that they are more comfortable!

I like the look of the boot and it seems to be made really well. The only thing is it is killing my baby toes and I\'ve been trying to wear thick socks to stretch it out but I still need to rest my feet for about a week or two after wearing these...

I had pined over these boots for 6 months before splurging on them as a Christmas present for myself. I am not one who buys shoes often and am typically quite frugal, but all the reviews convinced me about how "cool" I would feel, how comfortable the boots are, and how they would last for at least 10 years. I have admired the motorcycle boot look for some time, and I thought these shoes would be worth the investment. Sadly, they were not. I hardly ever wear them because they are so uncomfortable. They are tight and stiff and not at all conducive to walking much. Maybe for women who are accustomed to wearing extremely uncomfortable shoes (high heels), these are comfortable in comparison. In my case, none of my dress shoes exceed a 2" height, and are all stacked or wedge heels. I just cannot bring myself to wear shoes that make my feet hurt. When I dress casually, you will usually find me in soft, roomy shoes, often with a lug sole. The clunkiness of such shoes detract from the long length of my feet (I wear an 11), which is nice. However, the slim profile of these boots give me the "banana foot" look, which makes me self-conscious, and I do not at all feel "cool" when I see people checking out my highly conspicuous huge boots!
Brands I'd also recommend: Any other uncomfortable brand of shoe would probably be good for people who liked these shoes.

I so wanted these boots to fit. They were too tight in the instep (I am a normal b) and the heel room, even if the instep had been perfect, was too much. My foot slipped as I walked. I can only say perhaps my foot was not meant for this boot unless I got a 5.5 wide. And when I normally wear a 6b, wasn't sure that would help. They are gorgeous, but unfortunately, I will need to return them.

Unfortunately, not for me - For a year now I've been lusting after finding myself a pair of Frye boots ... and unfortunately, this wasn't the one. The shaft height wasn't good, I have fuller calves and I felt silly and chunky if I tried these on with some of my skirts. Plus, the rectangular toe box was a little odd, and they were definitely almost a full size bigger than what I expected. I am determined to find the Frye's for me, though, cuz I love the brand!

Form, Fit, Function - Frye's Harness Boot was gorgeous and hot, but I felt like the ugly stepsister because I couldn't get it on my foot. Too tight at the instep. Otherwise - really great boot!

Love the look, but they hurt - I thought these boots were a little tight and I called Frye and they said they would stretch to meet the shape of my feet. They did not stretch much and they hurt every time I wear them. Zappos was great about shipping though.

I have a love/hate relationship with these boots. I mean, they'e so cute and the quality is as good as it gets - but there's a big problem. I can't wear these boots, even for a quick walk down the block, without limping home with huge blisters on the back of my heels. I've used layers of moleskin, bandaids and those sticky, padded heel inserts but I still have this problem, so my pair spends most of its time in the closet.

These boots weren't made for walking... A well-made boot, but far too narrow in the forefoot... My foot isn't particularly wide and these boots were unwearable until I stretched them out a bit. Even after breaking in, the heel slips too much. Also, the leather is matte and not slightly shiny as shown in the picture.

These boots are gorgeous! I am so sad they will not work for me. They were ridiculous to put on and take off. I know that is part of the deal with cowboy boots, but just not for me. I am sure they would last a lifetime, the leather is perfect. I also found them to be very heavy.

I bought these because all the online reviews said they were so comfortable. Well, I have had them for a year now and I want to cry every single time I wear them. I wore them everywhere almost every day for the first 3 months I had them and then sporadically thereafter. I made the mistake of trying to break them in the very first time when I went to Vegas. Obviously, that was a disaster. The leather at the ankles creases in a bad spot and pushes against my ankles. Even with a thick piece of molefoam and rolled up socks shoved between my ankle and the boot, they are still terribly uncomfortable. I even had a boot store stretch them for me for a week and no dice. I talked to a friend who also had these and she said the exact same thing. She doesn't even bother trying to wear them anymore. I have no idea why anyone would say these are at all comfortable and why nobody's reviews say anything about this pain. Maybe I just have a faulty pair of boots, or weird ankles. There's absolutely no padding on the bottoms either, so regardless of the ankle situation it feels like you're walking on wood. Do yourself a favor and don't buy them until you try them on in the store at the very least. If you choose to buy these, you should get a half size smaller. I normally wear a size 7 and I bought a 6.5 which fit fine. Your heels will always slip out no matter what size you buy. That's just the design of the slip-on boot. They are pretty heavy, but they will never fall off. The calf openings are larger so if you have skinny chicken legs like I do then the boots stick out a bit, but they still look great.

Too narrow! The length of the boot is perfect and they look great. I read the reviews and got the boot a 1/2 size small. I tried on the half size bigger and it was too big so I went for the 1/2 size small. Anyway the length fits but they are too narrow, so now I spent the $ and can't return them because I have worn them.

Look good but very painful and heavy . . . These boots look really cool and when I first put them on, although they were uncomfortable and the leather was stiff I thought I could break them in. These boots are VERY difficult to break in, if not impossible - I still haven't done it yet and my feet are in some serious pain several weeks into the process . . . They are also quite narrow and my little toes are either bleeding or blistered after I wear them. I keep trying to break them in because they were so expensive and now they've been worn outside I can't return them. Additionally, they are extremely heavy and after wearing them all day my legs hurt. If you work on a farm, have skinny feet and wear very thick socks - these boots might be great. Other than that, give them a miss.

Too tight in toes, and they SQUEAK - Frye boots are so overpriced. I can't figure out why they are so popular. These boots are tight in the toes and rub my little toe uncomfortably. There's a squeak that will not go away and is audible whenever I walk - embarrassing! Another similar style of boots I tried from Frye were so loose in the heel they slid right off. Awful!

Hmmm - this is a disappointment - Unlike other reviewers, I had no problem slipping these boots on, but the problems started there. The boots were heavy, and without the curve above the heels, they slipped off my heels when I walk. I wish I kept my money instead.

I love these boots but after I had them for just over two years (two years and two months to be exact) the sole of one of them totally cracked in half. I take really good care of my boots (my husband is a veteran, polishes and conditions our boots every Sunday!) and only wear them during the winter, so they still look really new. I contacted the company and sent them photos and they said that it was "normal wear" for the sole to crack in half and they couldn't help me. For me, this cost is too much to spend on something that isn't going to last. Bogus.

I own multiple pairs of Frye boots/shoes, and these are by far the most comfortable. There is absolutely no breaking-in period necessary, and the arch support is great for all-day wear. I live in the city and do a lot of walking, and I usually have some issue with boots: heel slippage, blisters, etc. but I have no complaints about these boots. I have wide calves, so its difficult to buy knee-high boots online since the fit is always iffy. Since these hit mid-calf, I don't have to worry about that. The fit is amazing. I can wear leggings with no problem. The squared off toe is the only thing that made me pause before purchasing, but since this is part of the look of this type of boot, I warmed up to it! I can't say enough good things about this boot. I am still looking for the ideal knee-high boot, but I am happy to fall back on these any day!

These are amazing boots for people with very narrow feet. I have very wide fee so for me they are a nightmare and were a waste of money. I foolishly thought they would widen with my foot. I even had them professionally widened twice to no avail. My fault for buying. Bad for the wide foot.

These shoes were a bitter disappointment after saving up my pin money for 6 weeks to buy them! They look, smell and feel gorgeous and are very striking on. The problem is that the seam on the side sewing runs under the heel pad and I could feel it all day long. It felt like I was in stirrups all day. I have tried to remediate this problem several ways. First I tried Dr. Scholls footpads but they made the boot too tight (and cost $50, thankfully returnable). Now I've got them at a shoe repair shop in the hopes that he can design a foodpad that will camouflage the uncomfortable lump. After paying this much, this is unacceptable! The man in the shop said this was "perplexing and poor workmanship." I would have returned them if I hadn't worn them in a desperate attempt to make it work. These boots broke my shoe loving heart!

I was excited to purchase these boots and thought I lucked out because I ordered the last pair in Tan in an 8.5. Sadly, I was very disappointed when they arrived. The leather quality on the left boot was horrible: lots of scarring and blemishes on the hide used. I was also unable to get my foot (which is the smaller of my feet) into that boot. I had previously tried on a pair at another store and knew the size I ordered would fit which leads me to believe there was a problem with this specific boot. I am surprised Frye did not consider the boot to be irregular since Frye products are usually very high quality. The right boot was gorgeous and reminded me of why I ordered a pair. However, the problems with the left boot necessitated a return. I gave the boots a 3 star comfort rating since they are not comfortable right out of the box but are wearable. The overall rating of 1 star is for the specific pair I received.

Horrendous fit - I don't believe these boots are made for women - the ankles are HUGE. I could not keep them on my feet, my foot kept slipping up. Also, the size is way off - one full size too big. Returned them.
