DKNY Belted Trench w/ Drawcord Hood

This is a stylish coat that works with jeans and up to business suits. I recently traveled to Birmingham, AL in it - perfect. Then to Tokyo, Japan in it - also perfect (in face more perfect). Held up well (no wrinkles) for two long overseas flights and worked for the office and the Metro.

I love the styling. I wanted a light fitted rain or not trench that looked great with jeans but not boxy like a windbreaker. You know, when you want to wear a coat but you do not want to add bulk. The hood is great, why classic trench coats never had hoods always bugged me, like a lot of women my hair frizzes in the rain. This is a nice coat.

I'd also recommend: Calvin klein, donna karan, ralph lauren, the standards.

I'm normally a fan of DKNY and admittedly was very attracted by the price, but what I received was disappointing. This coat was very thin, more like a windbreaker, which did not look well in a coat of this style. It's easy to make a coat look good in a still photo, but a raincoat needs a little more body in its construction to look good while being worn. This type of fabric is better suited to a sportier style like a short jacket or maybe an anorak style. It's just too flimsy for a raincoat. Also, if you're long-waisted, that belt is a little high.

This looks like a well designed, belted trench, and DK has done me well in the past. It's the worst thing I've ever purchased. Thin, thin protection, slippery fabric, the belt is fixed to the point it looked maternity, and the hood with the fancy pull straps is useless. I would have paid 3 times as much for a functional piece. Tried to wear it once, going to send back. Do not waste your money.
