I bought these to replace my Allstars since I wanted something with more arch support and the removable insole had me convinced this would work perfectly. Well the insole is comfortable but the toe box on these shoes are terrible. After months of trying to break these in my feet still hurt after wearing them. I thankfully have a desk job so walking around is very limited but there is no way I could wear these out and about for long periods of time while running errands etc. I am very disappointed.

For those heart-broken Jack Purcell fanatics, these warm, woolly shoes have all those features that all the other JPs have lost. The vent holes have full access, there's the white frame on the sole, the JP signature is raised up on the heel AND it's embroidered on the tongue AND it's on it's own tag on the insole instead of screen printed on. These were made in China while an inferior pair I also purchased were made in Indonesia.

This is a clever shoe! Though not apparent in the pictures, it can be worn laced or lace-free, thanks to hidden elastic. Seems to run slightly large; I sized down 1/2 size from my usual 'dress' shoe size. The wool fabric really does make it warmer than the typical sneak. Great shoe for those who don't want to give up their Cons for winter!
I'd also recommend: Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star

Wool Jack Purcells? These are perfect for those chilly fall days. You can still wear your JPs and your little toesies wont get too chilly.
I'd also recommend: Simple... oh wait, they got axed ;-/

I love my Jack Purcell's. This is my second pair. The slip on makes for quick on and off. Very comfortable at the office or kicking around on the weekend. With the low profile I wouldn't want to walk 20 miles in them though and if you're trekking through slush and snow the traction is non-existent. The crushed wool is noticeably warmer than the canvas. These are great everyday winter shoes and I get compliments almost every day.
