These shoes look amazing on! I usually take an 8.5 in Frye's and the 8.5 in this shoe was really snug. The toe box is also pretty narrow. Overall the MJ doesn't seem as well made as my Miranda T-straps. The inside of the shoe has less cushion and the leather isn't all that soft. If the 9s fit I'll probably still keep them because I really like the style.

This MJ is beautiful and I'm glad I finally decided to spring for a quality pair of heeled shoes. I've been a Frye girl for several years and have slowly built a collection of boots, oxfords, and sandals, but this was my first pair of dress shoes. I love the look and the vintage look of the shoes. I always buy my Frye's in a size 7 (even in boots despite the recommendations to size down a half size) but in these I opted to try a 7.5 since I know that my feet sometimes swell in heels. Turns out the 7.5 is the perfect size so I'm thinking they run TTS or a bit small. The only change I made after receiving these shoes was to change the color. I first chose the slate color, but then decided I'd rather have them in a classic black to elongate my legs when wearing black tights. On final note-- certain colors of Frye shoes and boots will arrive covered in a white chalky substance. Don't freak out if yours arrive this way, just rub them gently with a soft cloth and it's easily removed. I highly recommend these!

These shoes run about half a size too big in length, but they are short and tight across the toes. I feel like I would not be able to walk around in them for more than an hour.

These shoes are a work of art. It was a little scary to open the box and see them covered in this white stuff. However it's supposed to be that way so when you rub em down they get that beautiful antique leather look. It's like having a great pair of vintage shoes but brand new and only all mine! Wore them to a Fall wedding in a barn and got so many compliments. They are a little narrow other than that perfect!

Beautiful shoe- but sizing/fit just did not work for me. I tried my normal shoe size, and it was too tight and uncomfortable. I ordered a 1/2 size up, and it fit better but was clearly too big and unfortunately still uncomfortable.

Add This Brand to My Favorites
The Frye Company was founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a shoemaker from England. Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers for both sides of America’s Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-America war, and for Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. Many New England families during the mid and late 1800’s wore Frye boots as they pioneered across the country to the West.

Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.

In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.

The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

The other reviews are excellent as I did order a half size up, and it fits perfectly. Toe box is comfortable! It is a slight platform, so the heel is more of a true 3". Frye is consistently a good brand, and these shoes do not disappoint!

These are my favorite! They are incredibly comfortable. I swear to god, they almost feel like wearing sneakers! There is great padding in the footbed, and the wide heal and strap make them very stable. I love that the distressed leather look because you never feel overdressed in these heals. They are true to size, but not true to Frye size.... That is, I have found Frye boots to run at least 1/2 size too big. These shoes, however, fit perfectly with my normal size. I can't recommend them enough. I wear them every day!

Beautifully made shoe! I was so excited to get these, especially after I ordered and returned the Frye Lois MJ. They really are comfortable for a high heel and feel steady and secure on my feet. I'd say they run true to size (maybe very slightly small and narrow, but they would be too big if I ordered a half size up). I tried them on wearing skinny jeans and they looked great. I ordered these in black and they look exactly like the picture. I'm excited to wear them out -- just so long as there isn't snow on the ground.

These shoes are fabulous. I'm glad I ordered my regular size (11) and not a ten, because while the 11 has a slight gap at the back, if I had gone one size down I wouldn't have enough room in the toes. I just used a ball-of-foot insole and everything was fine. The quality is exceptional (as with all Frye goods!) and these are absolutely the most well made pair of shoes I've ever owned. The black is a nice rich black, not quite as shiny as pictured (which I was concerned about). I wore these shoes at a wedding for almost 12 hours with no break and I was surprised how comfortable they actually were. Not to say it didn't hurt a little at times or when I took them off, but I wasn't limping or barefoot by the end of the night. The next day I had a broken toe, but I blame that on the wedding dancing. The heel is great too, not so skinny that you sink into the grass, but not "chunky" or clunky at all. Other than the minor size issue which is probably due to my need for a less-common size, absolutely perfect!

Beautiful shoe! I thought it ran a little big, the 11 was too big for me, and that's my normal size. The 10 was to cramped, and they don't make a 10.5, so they both go back. So bummed! Comfort level was pretty good for it's height. I've had surgery on one foot, and it's always grumpy, but had this been a good fit, I could've tolerated it fairly well. Back to the drawing board...

I loved these shoes so much that I came back for another color! I now have black and brown. I do not wear high heels normally, but these heels are so stable that they do not feel as high as other 4" heels that I have tried. I absolutely love them! Now that I have added some footpetals in the ball of the shoes, my feet are pretty happy in them.

Loved these as much as I'd hoped I would. Other reviews are correct in that these don't run generously sized as other Frye shoes do, so it was a wise move for me to go up to a size 11 vs. my usual 10. Gorgeous shoe, am seriously considering investing in another pair!

Has it all. Beautiful, well-made, comfortable! I walked all day in these shoes, and have problem feet and ankles, and I felt no discomfort whatsoever! My only con: they were not offered in black, which would have been ideal. A classically beautiful Mary Jane, I feel like I will be structuring outfits around this shoe! I'm between an 8.5 & 9 and the 9 fit perfectly.
