Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I am obsessed with these boots! First of all, it was a long, hard road finding the right tall shaft boot for my measurements. My leg will only do a maximum shaft of 15" before it is hitting my kneecap, and my calf circumference is 14" (yeah, I'm a shorty). Thus, options based on those measurements are very limited. I tried the Frye Paige and the Frye Melissa back-button zip before finding the Amelia Logo. The measurements on this boot are perfect for me, and the size 6 ran very true. They are so comfortable, just enough heel to be comfortable all day, skinny jeans fit inside, plus they look awesome with skirts/dresses. Also, I have never been one to spend a lot on clothing and shoes, and am a very frugal shopper, but I decided to go for it, and I am so glad I did. My shoe size isn't changing any time soon, and this boot will certainly be timeless! Love you Zappos, love you Frye!

I wanted these boots to work so bad, but I couldn't get my foot down past the ankle. They are gorgeous, they just really need a zipper. Even with my semi-large calves, I think if I could've gotten my foot down, they probably would've been okay in the calves. However, the foot looked very narrow, so my hunch is that they wouldn't have been comfy enough to keep. So bummed! Beautiful leather and style. Not possible to wear unless you are tiny.

Love, love, love these boots! I ordered 5 or 6 pairs from Zappos before finally finding a winner. The color is a perfect chocolate brown that pairs well with black and brown clothes. I have calves that measure 15", and these fit with room to spare for skinny jeans and leggings. At first the fit felt a bit tight, and I had trouble even getting them on, but they soften and stretch just enough to make the fit perfect (I almost sent them back due to this and the fear that they would not stretch at all, but they did). I usually wear an 8 and occasionally and 8 1/2. The 8 here fit just right. They are comfortable to walk in all day. They look rich and well made.

I've never spent this much on a pair of shoes except a pair of Leddy's boots that were custom made for me many years ago. So I was ready to return them if I didn't love the look and if they weren't absolutely comfortable. I was slightly worried when I had trouble getting the first one on though it's to be expected in a pull-on boot, and I know the leather will ease over time. I've been wearing them around the house for a couple of hours now, and I don't want to take them off, much less send them back! They're beautiful! Just the look I was after (never have cared for zippered boots). The shaft is on the slim side which works great for me because I don't have big calves and didn't want them too sloppy looking. The fit is perfect with a thin knit sock. I ordered a 6.5 which is my normal shoe size. They are casual but classic, so I won't hesitate to wear them with skirts. Did I mention how comfortable they are? I feel like they were custom made for me! Expensive? Yes, but they'll last for years, and I'll enjoy wearing them a lot! Thanks Frye and Zappos!

These boots look and feel great. I was able to wear them a whole day right out of the box. I have wide foot in places, but the boots accommodated that easily.

Okay, these are beautiful boots. The leather is thick, the logo and stitching are pretty. They smell great too. There is some rubber on the sole for grip, but it is still refined and not a lug type sole. They run true to size and are easy to get off and on. My ONLY concern is that they are fairly soft, and I'm worried about them slouching even though the leather is nice and think. I am still on the fence about keeping them, but only because I personally hate slouch. A tough decision though since I love everything else about them.
