These are excellent hiking shoes, I bought them two weeks ago, and the first day I got them, I went hiking on a mountain nearby, as I live in Alaska, the weather went from sunny to pouring rain. I walked around 14 miles in both directions, through grass, forest and on the rocky road. My feet were dry, shoes were comfortable. I would recommend them to everyone who likes hiking, long walks, and wet weather!
Brands I'd also recommend: Element, Asolo, Merrel

It took only a brisk 30 minute walk on the road to break them in. They have the comfort of a typical running shoe but are enough of a 'hiker' to protect your feet on rocky ground. Excellent traction. Wore them in some mud and wet grass and my feet stayed dry. They are absolutely a half size big but I've worn them regardless. After just a few weeks I liked them enough to buy another pair a half size smaller. I would have gave them 5 stars "overall" but they shouldn't be that over sized. The 4 stars for "style" is because I don't care to have the "North Face" logo all over them.

Bought these for a two-week hiking trip in the Swiss Alps. Life kept me from wearing them much ahead of time but they were simply awesome on the trip. We covered some pretty could vertical distance in temperatures from 22F to 85F and these boots really came through. They were just slightly larger than size but that allowed plenty of room for my toes to slide forward during some severe downhill hikes. Light. Breathable. Durable. Dry. I'm really happy with these.

As other reviews stated, these are absolutely true to size. These shoes are the lightest pair of hiking or casual wear treads you will own. I continue to frequently receive compliments on the style and look of these shoes. Love them!

First time I've ever written a product review. These are incredible. I got an 8 1/2. Wish i could have gotten an 8 3/8. My feet aren't wide and these are snug width wise. Other than that. I absolutely love them. Style, feel, quality. Best I've seen in a long time. No break-in required. They feel like sneakers with the ooomph to take a pretty rigorous trail. I love 'em! Db-Indianapolis

These shoes were perfect in the beginning and 3 weeks into wearing them, they squeak so badly when walking that they are no longer worn.

I originally got these for camping/light hiking. These are now my favorite pair of everyday wear shoes. They are light, tough, and despite the goretex, they breathe like they have a set of lungs! The sole is not super aggressive as you would see on some boots made just for hiking but they are comfortable and grippy.
