My son is 6 and lives for the sweatpants/sporty look. However, we wanted him to have some nicer looking shoes for going to the theatre, visiting grandparents and other 'dress up' events. I wasn't sure what he would think of these, but he loves them and said that they were really comfortable. The shoes are GREAT looking - even better in person! Couldn't be happier. Both my husband and I want them, too! First Zappos review - I hope this helps someone else like all of the reviews have helped me.

My 8 year old son loves these shoes. He has a little bit of a high instep and these shoes don't seem to bother him at all. The rubber on the toes keeps the shoes from getting scuffed and the material is very durable. They are a wonderful alternative to sneakers. I'll go through great lengths to get my son to wear something other than high top basketball shoes, and it appears I didn't have to go all that far. Even he admits they are super comfortable, even though they are not "in" shoes. He will be wearing these throughout the fall and winter this year!
Brands I'd also recommend: Primigi, Geox, Merrell

These shoes rock! The overall quality, material & craftsmanship are awesome! My son has a slightly wide foot & these are the perfect fit for him! He wears his shoes hard -- no doubt these will last!

My son loves these shoes. We are big Keen fans at our house and buy them every year when school starts. Keen is the only brand that we buy. They last the entire year. My son says they are very comfortable shoes, as all of his Keens have been. Great product that lasts through the roughness of a growing boy!

I bought these shoes for my 8 year old son last year and again this year. With other shoes he wears through the bottom in about 2 months. The Keen shoes lasted an entire year until he out grew them. He reports they are comfortable and I think they are a nice looking shoe.

These are very nice shoes for a child with wide feet. They seem to be very durable except for the first pair I received; right out of the box, one of the eyelets were broken. Zappos sent a new pair right away and I got them the very next day.

Great sneaker for my son with wide feet (it fits wide, which is what we were looking for). He wanted a shoe that didn't make his feet as hot as the waterproof keens do, and these seem to work for him. The black ones are a really nice looking shoe too.

This is our third pair of Austins. My now 4 year old son has been wearing these for the past year. He loves them and they are suitable for everything from preschool to the playground. The Austin is as good or better than a sneaker and much nicer looking and more versatile. A great shoe!

Keens never disappoint! I'm a mom of 3 active boys, and Keens are a standby in our house. This shoe is really good-looking and seems to be just as durable as you would expect from a Keen. Big thumbs up from us!

I only buy Keens for my son because they will actually last until he outgrows them. They're well worth the money and with Zappos I can choose between all the styles and have them here tomorrow with no problems.

My toddler son absolutely loves these shoes and brings them to me to put on each time we go out, even in hot California weather! Very easy to put on, durable and apparently very comfortable. Highly recommend.

My 11 year old son really likes these shoes. He has very wide feet and has a hard time finding shoes that fit. These are great for wide feet. We\'ve bought a number of different Keen styles, and they have all been well made and very durable. He requested a 2nd pair/different color because he liked these so much.
