I really wanted to like this shoe. I have other Merrells and like the brand. I’m looking for some light weight, but sturdy hiking and walking shoes and these looked perfect in the photo. Unfortunately they just don’t fit. For starters, I had to re-order a full size larger, but even after getting those (quickly thanks to Zappos’ great service), I found them too narrow at the toes and the arch support uncomfortably high. Very out of character for the other Merrell shoes I have. Still like Merrell and I’m trying other styles, but this shoe is limited to those it will fit… and that isn’t me.

I’ve been waiting for a pair of Merrells that I could stand to wear styles wise; most have color schemes or shapes I don’t like. The Intercept in smooth black looked great online and even better in person. I picked these up as I will be attending a trade show next weak, i.e. lots of walking and standing. This sneaker/hiker is easily the most comfortable shoe out of the box I have ever tried. I wear a 10 and that’s what I ordered, perfect fit.

I purchased a pair of Merrell Intercept but they were too small. I returned them, reordered and received my new larger pair by express mail...I didn’t expect Zappos to upgrade the shipping but was grateful because we were headed to Europe. I put about 100 km's on these shoes...no blisters, great comfort - they broke in really quickly. I highly recommend Merrell Intercepts and will be ordering another pair.

I work on concrete all day long so I have found hiking shoes to be the best...and Merrell the best of the best...these are the 3rd generation Merrells and these will not disappoint...they are cool with the mesh sides and comfortable right out of the box...they are not the least expensive but are well worth the money and hold up well.

These are great.
I love these shoes. Thinking seriously about getting more in different colors. As has been noted, they run about a half size small. Otherwise practically perfect.

Very weird sizing -
This was my first pair of Merrells. They felt very comfortable...Excellent construction. Great sole. I wear a 13 with almost every shoe I have owned since I was 17 yo. I bought a size 14 and they fit just like a 13-13.5 would fit. I would definitely buy another pair...Thanks Zappos for the fast delivery. Approx. 27 hrs total.

Merrell's are good to go... size?
Great shoe... however, I have found with Merrells that they are not consistent with their sizing. For example, the Merrell Chameleon I wear are 13. The Merrell Intercepts I just ordered are a 14. What is up with that? It was a little frustrating ordering the size I normally wear (13) and then to have to turn around, send it back, and then order a bigger size (14). Once I got the 14s, they fit like 13s. Not a show stopper… just something to keep in mind.

Sadly, first and last Merrells I will buy. Doesn’t fit my foot type. Too tight and I bought one size larger. Try them on first, I do not recommend them. Bulky and heavy.

Very tight toe box -
This is the first Merrell shoe I have bought that doesn’t fit good right out of the box. When I put the shoes on I can feel the different width in the toes. It feels like below the laces that the shoes are too tight. I am hoping the more I wear them that they will stretch. I have worn them two weeks and they are a little better, but are still a little tight.

These are really comfortable and I've had many compliments on them but they are too narrow. I wish I had noticed before wearing them but I figured they would stretch a little. And the the laces where you tie them is right on the bump on the top of the foot which I find annoying.Get a half size larger and wider.

Great look and comfort. May want to order a half size larger. The rubber toe cap limits the give in this area.

After awesome 1 day shipping from Zappos, today is my first day wearing this shoe. So far, I am really happy with it, it has great support and is very comfortable when walking, I don't know if I have owned a shoe that has been this comfortable to walk in before. Highly recommended, I think the design is cool as well.

This is an awesome shoe for someone who is looking for comfort, style, and durability. I can wear these shoes to class, to work, or on the trails. The shoes are incredibly comfortable and breathable. Mud and slush don't get stuck in the treads, which is nice. The only thing that could be better would be waterproofing. Merrel also sells a Gore-Tex version of this shoe, but it is more expensive and can be harder to find. Overall, this is a great shoe.

Worth every penny.
I needed a walking shoe with excellent support and found this to be what the doctor ordered. The shoe is true to size, well made, attractive and absolutely comfortable/good to go right out of the box. One of the best investments I've made in footwear.

Awesome shoe, awesome service!!!
I bought these shoes for hiking on a recent trip to Moab, Utah. The Vibram sole stuck so well to the slick rock, I felt like Spiderman when climbing in these shoes! In addition the shoes look very stylish and comfortable, and as always, the service and delivery from Zappos was second to none. The only reason I gave these shoes a 4 for comfort was because they rubbed a little bit on the small toe of my right foot, but again this was only after 2 days of 8+ hours hiking per day. I would definitely buy again as this is probably one the best shoe purchases I've ever made. Thank you Zappos!

Previous comments say they feel tight at first, so I purchased a 1/2 size bigger as recommended. Like a memory foam cushion, after a few days they fit just right adjusting to my foot shape and arch.

I have been ordering shoes, clothing, etc. on Zappos.com for a few years. This is the best website hands down, and I do a lot of online shopping! Your order arrives almost immediately, and returning is by far the easiest. Returning by mail can be a hassle, not at Zappos! Oh, and I LOVE these shoes by Merrell...Killer!
