Perfect go-bag - I got this bag for an easy travel bag. It is absolutely perfect. It's so small that it's never a hindrance and you almost forget you're wearing one. I got it because I have just more than enough stuff to fill my pockets when I travel (I hate having things in my pockets) and I didn't want a cumbersome full backpack.

Holds more than it looks like - When you open the long zipper there are 2 large inner pockets on either side. One zip and one pouch style, plus a large open area in between. Inside the smaller zipper is a small pocket I use for wallet and keys. The inside fits checkbook, extra shirt, sunglasses, snack, cosmetics, mail, coupons, drink bottle...with room to spare. All is organized nicely to a neat, small package. I don't use the outer straps but they can be tucked away and the outside looks sleek and nice. I don't like the logo on there but I have the black and it blends in pretty well. There is also a cell phone pocket on the front of the strap which is handy.

I purchased the Patagonia Atom bag strictly for conferences. I travel about once a month and find myself needing a small bag that can carry my Sony Webbie HD, my Canon camera, business cards and a few handouts from the booths. This bag has been perfect for that. I also use a Patagonia Lightwire to carry my laptop and have used it for about a year and a half, everyday. It has held up brilliantly and I expect the same from the Atom. It's a great bag, just note, it's small - the exact reason I purchased it.

I bought this bag because it appears to be a good everyday bag. I was not disappointed. I do wish that the designers had done a few things differently, however. For instance, the phone on the strap is not big enough for an average sized cell phone; it needs to be bigger. It would be helpful if there were more organizational tools built into the bag, such as pen loop pockets and maybe an outer pocket on the rear of the bag. Overall though, the pros outweigh the cons on this bag. It has forced me to downsize the amount of crap I carry around with me, and just take the essentials. I ordered the green color, and it's totally cute and fun! It looks sturdy and I think it will last a long time.

Great bag! It is convenient and great for travel items...such as passport, plane ticket, iPod, phone, book and a snack. It's not as big as I was hoping, but I still love the bag.

About Patagonia
Patagonia's values reflect those of a business that started as a band of climbers and surfers who wanted to stay out as long as they can, doing what they love, no matter the weather. Patagonia's design approach to every product, from technical shells for snow and ice, to moisture-wicking underclothes, to everyday clothes, demonstrates a functional bias toward simplicity and utility. Quality is impeccable, and the guarantee lifelong.
Patagonia's love of wild and beautiful places demands participation in the fight to save them and to help reverse the steep decline in the overall environmental health of the planet. They use organic cotton; most polyester is recycled. They give moral support - and 1% of sales, $25 million to date - to hundreds of grassroots environmental groups in the U.S., Europe and Japan.

I love this bag! What more do you need to know? My family is traveling quite a bit this spring, wanted a bag that was (a) convenient and comfortable to carry; (b) durable and well-made; (c) a practical bag for day trips and excursions with the kids; (d) cute in a sporty way. This one is all that and a bag of chips. More comfortable to carry than a traditional backpack -- no slipping off shoulders, etc. It is smallish (about half the width of a backpack) but deceptively spacious -- on my maiden voyage with this bag I brought it cross-country skiing, packed 2 apples, 2 bananas, 2 bottles of water, cell phone, small package of tissues, and extra gloves -- there was a lot of room to spare, could have brought a sweater or two as well. Carried so comfortably, forgot I had it with me! Did I mention that this is a great bag?

This bag features vibrant colors, nifty contrast and the nylon material appears durable and easy to clean. On the down side, the shoulder strap is disproportionately wide and the belt strap super flow. The bag is simply too small to be encumbered with heavy-duty straps. Spiffy bag, but not well executed.

It's perfect for a woman. But I'm a 6'3 at 280lb guy. Looked like a little man-purse on me. Would've been much cooler if it were normal size.

This is a great little bag. I purchased it for mountain bike riding. It carries quite a bit more than it looks like it would! I also used this bag for park touring at Disney World! It was great in that respect as well. It's lightweight. It carries a lot without weighing you down and it's bright enough that your family can easily find you in a crowd! This bag is extremely comfortable. It doesn't hang or sag after a while like most bags. There is a clip that allows you to take the bag off and on without having to pull it over your head. From start to finish I loved this bag. It does not get in the way or restrict movement on long rides and it allows you to be hands free and comfortable while trekking...parks or just the great outdoors. Love it!

I took this bag with me to a trip to Disney. It was very comfortable, didn't really notice it being there. Didn't dig into my armpits like a backpack normally would. I wish it were a little bigger though, fills up fast. I'd recommend purchasing still.

I have had this bag for a couple weeks now. I use it mainly to carry provisions to work with me. The front strap pocket is too small for my cell phone, so I use it to carry my Bluetooth earpiece instead. The front strap also has two loops on it, the higher of which is good for hanging up the bag. If you are not being to rough and tumble, they also make for a suitable way to hold a pair of glasses. There is also a waist strap present, but it is entirely ignore-able if you do not want to use it. I used it once when I took the bag on a bike ride. There are two main pockets on the exterior of the bag. A small one near the top that is just perfect for holding small valuables. the inside is made of a soft cloth so you do not feel like they are getting scratched up in there. I use it to hold my iPod Touch and earbuds, but it is also just big enough to hold a Nintendo DS Lite (along with my iPod and headphones). The main pocket is fairly spacious. It has two interior pockets; a small mesh pouch and a bigger, useful one lined by a stretchy band. I like to stash my Nook color in the stretchy pouch, and my tools in the mesh pouch. Everything else goes in the main pocket. I am no expert on materials, but this bag seems to made up decent stuff. I am worried that the strap will eventually break though. Even though it is attached from the top very securely, the bottom attachment looks flimsy. The back is lined with soft mesh, so it feels pretty good on your back. And I think it looks cool, but that is me.

Lightweight, fits comfortably across body. Inside pockets keep everything secure. Really liked the lined pocket for cell phone and/or camera (or sunglasses!). Could use one more outside mesh pocket for water bottle.

For me this Patagonia Atom is excellent. I just bought this bag in pink color because I have a new baby. I can keep the baby things, is adaptable, comfortable, is small, but I can keep the requisite for my baby-girl also is fashionable, nice color, you can look original. Trust me, is very nice!
Brands I'd also recommend: Patagonia, North Face, and Samolomon.

We took this bag on a Disney trip with a 5 year old an 3 year old. It held all the essentials, was light and comfortable, and easy to take on/off for rides. The sling style allows you to swing the bag around to your front to access the compartments without having to take it off. We will be continuing to use it for outings with the kids.

I bought this bag to use in place of a purse on an active weekend getaway. It worked out perfectly. I loved being able to strap a light jacket on the bag instead of tying it around my waste. Plus, it was comfortable to wear and held everything I needed.

Love this bag! Bought it for a trip to Ecuador. Fit all the travel essentials in an easy to access (but not easy to pick pocket) pack. It was great for every day in the cities and hiking in the Andes Mountains. Have used it since many times for Chicago Bears games and a trip to Six Flags. Highly recommend!

I wanted a small & cute bag for my trip to Vegas and this was perfect! It has several compartments and much more space than one would expect. The bag is attractive and also very comfortable to wear for walking around all day!

I like Patagonia products in general but am reluctantly returning this bag in a lovely khaki and periwinkle color combination. I have been looking for a travel bag that is sporty. As much as I like the construction and fit, this little bag is just a little too little and a little too minimalist for my needs. The zippered odd-shaped pocket on the strap fits my cellphone (because I don't have a smart one) or a Nano pod but alternately, would not allow me to put a pair of sunglasses in it. The shape and size are not quite right. I don't quite trust hanging my sunglasses from one of the smaller tabs on the sling strap. I love the detailing like the knit-like lining in smaller pocket and additional pockets in the larger compartment of the bag but the key attachment should have been aluminum, not the difficult-to-open plastic one that's there. One more outside pocket, maybe under the compression straps would have made me overlook the strap pocket issue though. The compression straps are a plus. The fact that you can stow the waist strap is well thought out. Disappointingly, this bag is under-designed in some aspects that are important to my specific needs. Unfortunately, there are few monoslings available that fit the bill; they all seem to be either too small or too large!
