I got these in brown and loved them - wore them everywhere, so I also got a black pair for work. They are dressy enough to wear with business suits, but can be rock and roll enough to go out clubbing with jeans. They are also comfortable enough to walk or stand in. I would say they run true to size, I ordered an 8M which is my normal boot size. I love Frye products; wish they would bring back the "Liv" which was the best looking boot ever!

Exactly what I was looking for! I'd owned another pair of lower, chunky-heeled Frye boots for years (currently misplaced) & was always impressed with their durability & quality of workmanship. So when it came time to pick up a new pair of high heeled black booties to wear with slacks & jeans, I was pleased to find these on Zappos. The heel is perfect - not a stiletto, but narrow enough to look hot AND add height to my 5'2" stature AND provide stability. Quality is superb. While they're quite comfortable for the heel height, they're not slippers & you'll probably be OK with kicking them off at the end of the day, so I did knock off one star for comfort. These boots fit my 6.5 wide-ish foot splendidly. Very happy with this purchase.

Rock and Roll - This boot looks so cool on - it transforms me from a 40 something mom to a rocker. It is great with skinny jeans. As comfortable as you could hope for in a high heel. My daughter even thinks they're cool.

I love this bootie! This is my first pair of Fryes, but definitely won't be my last. They are very well made and the leather is beautiful. I ordered them in saddle and they look great with jeans. I broke them in with a full day of shopping and was surprised that my feet didn't feel worse than they did considering the heel height.

These are very attractive and comfortable considering the heel height. Unfortunately, I have a high arch on the top of my foot and so it was hard to get my foot in by stretching the elastic. Once in, they fit snugly and comfortably, but I opted to return them and look for another pair that would be easier to get my foot into. Otherwise, I would have kept them.

Additional Brand Information

The Frye Company was founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a shoemaker from England. Frye is the oldest continuously operating shoe company in the United States. Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers for both sides of America’s Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-America war, and for Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. Many New England families during the mid and late 1800’s wore Frye boots as they pioneered across the country to the West.

Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.

In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.

The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Tough and tender boot - As with other Frye products these booties are very well made and look like they will take hard wear, yet are very stylish -- they look "tough" enough to be great with jeans, but are quite elegant when on and I'd have no hesitation wearing them with something more dressy. The leather has a matte, pebbled look that I really like, and there is a soft leather lining. They are true to size and hold the foot securely so you don't slide into the toe. It is a stacked heel, which is more durable than one covered in leather. Altogether, a really fine boot.

Grab It While You Can! Well made and comfortable. Versatile shoe that looks great with pants and skirts. I was not sure the 3.5" heel would be comfortable, but it is. Perfect for my size 7, medium width feet.
