These are my second pair of Frye boots. I read the reviews and decided to get my true size which is 7 1/2 they fit good. They do slip off the back but you do get used to it. The leather is soft and durable. I would highly recommend if you like boots. I wear them with my cropped boyfriend jeans and they look great!

Purchased these boots a few weeks ago. I have very wide feet and I was reluctant to squeeze my foot into a narrow toed boot, but these boots are so gorgeous I am tempted to buy another pair for fear I will never find them when I have finally worn them out. They are fairly flat so no cushion on the sole. Wouldn't want to stand on them all day; however, width was great. Very comfortable and they look expensive and I wear with jeans as I am over the high heel thing at my age - mid 50s. I highly recommend.

This boot does not fit well. The heel of my foot tends to slip.I was disappointed, this was my first purchase of a western style boot. I will not buy another pair!

The heel was enormous, sadly the boots had to be returned. They are gorgeous, but the heel is so so wide and not tenable for narrow feet. Even tightening the buckle did nothing.

Beautiful, comfortable boots right out of the box. The usual butter-soft leather and great craftsmanship. They do fit loosely at the heel, but this is a personal issue â?? doesnâ??t bother me because I know they are not going to fall off. And, I wear orthotics, which alters the fit a little. Zappos is the best - I had these on my doorstep practically as I completed the order! Love Fryes! Love Zappos!

The Frye Company was founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a shoemaker from England. Frye is the oldest continuously operating shoe company in the United States. Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers for both sides of America?s Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-America war, and for Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. Many New England families during the mid and late 1800?s wore Frye boots as they pioneered across the country to the West.

Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.

In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.

The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I bought the boots for my daughter Katherine, who lives in Chicago. She loves them. The fit is perfect, and the look and feel of the boot is typical Frye stylish and comfortable. She recommends them.

Now that these boots are broken in, I feel a need to update my review below. I live in these boots. On the first few wears, they pinched my toes and the heel slipped uncomfortably (which I complained about in my review below). However, they broke in beautifully after a few wears and I'm so glad I didn't send them back, because they are now the most comfortable shoe in my wardrobe. I will wait to get past the break-in period before posting a shoe review in the future!

A beautiful boot, but not quite what I had hoped for. First, this is a beautiful looking boot. I have it in brown, a gorgeous antiqued caramel color that only looks better in person. The style of the boots is a very subtle western look that is more urban weekend than cowgirl. The great look of these shoes is why I am keeping these shoes despite the other problems I have with them, but I wanted to point them out in this review in case they are deal breakers for others. First, this boot is not very comfortable, despite the low heel and easy style. The toe is very narrow; those with wide feet should be wary. There is very little padding and almost no arch support. I remedied this somewhat with orthotics, but it was a serious challenge to find an orthotic that fit this boot well given the narrow toe. Lastly, those who complain about heel slippage are not exaggerating. It doesn't make the boots unwalkable, but it is a very strange feeling at first. One other thing, I had hoped that I could tuck these boots into skinny jeans, but like someone else here noted, the proportions are somehow off. I don't think it's impossible that some girl out there has the figure to pull off this look, but it's tricky. (I wonder if this boot in black would be more versatile.) I wear these boots either under jeans or with the jeans cuffed so that the cuffs are just above the buckle; they do look pretty awesome that way. Overall, they are so pretty I can't give them up, but I would be happier if they were more comfortable and looked better with either skinnys or skirts. They do, however, look awesome with jeans.

The back of the shoe slips off my heel because the shoe is too big. This seems to happen to a lot of people. I bought the heel inserts that go on the back of the shoe, and it helped a tiny bit, but almost not at all. That being said, on my first night out I got complimented on them. They are a very nice boot, but if they fixed the back of the shoe, they would be perfect.

Well made boot. If you love boots, Frye makes a really nice boot that looks like it will last forever! Unfortunately, the width of the top of the boot made my slim legs look like Olive Oyl's and I felt it was something I would not get used to. Something for you to consider before ordering if your legs are on the slim side.

I bought these last fall 2008, and have not regretted the purchase. They are a classic, but have unique styling with the gathered ankle. I ordered an 8.5, my usual size, and wish I could have also tried on an 8. The heel slips, but I have gotten used to this. The color is beautiful and high quality. The have held up well, been very versatile, and I will enjoy them for many more years.

These are great boots! Super cute styling, and fit true to size. Like others said, the heel is loose, just like a Dansko clog, but it\'s not a problem at all, and actually is how boots should fit. The leather and finishing are quality, and the color (the brown) is amazing. I will get a lot of wear out of these, either under jeans, with jeans tucked in, or with skirts/dresses.

Beautiful style and quality; note that the short version fits more true to size than the new tall version, which ran small. A classic that will remain in my wardrobe for years and years!

There is something a little funny about these boots. I wanted them to be the everything-skinny jeans-dress- boot but they don't deliver. Even when I use the smallest buckle setting the leather at the ankle looks off. Bummer.

I love these boots! They're so cute, well made, and very comfortable! The heel does slip, probably even more for my big narrow foot, but you get used to it after a while and it doesn't cause rubbing. I think they are true to size, although the pointed toe might pinch a wide foot.

    I. Love. These. Boots. They have paid for themselves in compliments alone. I wear an 8.5 usually, that's the size I got and they fit great. I've had them for two weeks, there was a very minor break-in period and now I'm wearing them without socks! I love, love, love them. I work in food service so it should be a testament to how comfortable they are that I wear them to work all day. I don't find the heel to be an issue; it's loose but it doesn't rub and I personally prefer it. If you are considering them GET THEM! You will not regret it!

Sized a bit small - I had Frye boots in the past, but this is my first boot purchase in many years. These were just too cute and I just love leather soles. Many folks have commented on the size. I'm a typical 7.5-8.0 size so I tried the 7.5 first. The toe is fairly pointy so the 7.5 really pinched. The 8's fit much better. The heels are loose but if you are used to wearing loose heels (e.g. Dansko clogs) then it probably won't seem so odd.

Fab boots! Love, love, love these boots! They are beautiful and great looking. I have a real problem with boots since I have big legs, but these fit perfectly and look great. I wear them with pants and long skirts. I wish they had a little padding in the sole, but that's easily fixed with inserts. The heels are very loose as others have mentioned, but once I got used to it, I stopped noticing. They are expensive, but I don't regret one penny. I'd love to get another pair.

Come on home little doggies... Had a pair of tall Frye boots in college in the 70s. Loved them although with me having a wide foot & wide calves, I suffered a bit but looked great. Now, I'm older and wiser, but still lust for Frye boots. When I saw these shorties I had to get them. Also, now that I'm not a cattle rancher or never was I really don't have a need for "cowboy stitching" so this style fits me. Not sure why Frye people don't think wide feet women have money to spend on their shoes/boots, but I guess it's their loss not to offer wide sizes. With a shoe stretcher, I got the boot to fit just perfectly and with use, I look forward to them molding to my feet like a wonderful loving hug. As Nancy Sinatra always said, "These feet were made for walking and that's just what I'll do. One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you!"
