The sole seems to have the right amount of cushion. Not as soft as typical Asics Cumulus, which works for me. I intend to use this shoe as a regular work shoe as it is comfortable and I can even wear it on rainy days! I wish that goretex fabric connected the tongue to the outer edges of the shoe to totally enclose the foot. This would be in case of submerging the foot in a puddle or something like that. I also wish that they offered a wider version, so I could buy the next size down in a width that fits.

I've tried a lot of types of running shoes, and these have been my favorites. I need a wide shoe, and this one is a good fit for me. Just slightly wider than a medium width. It does seem to run a half size too small. I usually wear a 9, but I got a 9.5.

I bought these to wear for hiking and walking but they are so comfortable I want to wear them all the time! I do recommend wearing socks that have a thicker cushioned sole, and I did end up having to send back to get a half size bigger. They seem to run small. But once you find the right size -- wow. Very impressed. Love the Gore-Tex too.

These shoes are fantastic. I really enjoy the cushy feel and grippy treads. I'll admit its been trial and error trying to find the right size. These are the most expensive tennis shoes I ever bought but well worth it.

About inov-8
All inov-8 footwear goes through extensive testing by enthusiasts and elite international athletes, to guarantee they perform like they should. Their whole design development process centers on optimizing the end user's performance. The uppers of inov-8 shoes are extremely functional with mesh in the forepart and tongues for maximum breathability. This creates a good climate that helps you run at your best. When you run through water and the shoe gets soaked, it creates a pumping action that expels the water from the shoe allowing it to dry quickly. The lace webbing is positioned allowing a secure foothold without altering the natural alignment of the metatarsals. The back of their shoes are cleanly cut which allows your Achilles tendon to experience high levels of comfort and minimum restriction- particularly when running down hill.
The inov-8 team is made up of experts with proven track records in the footwear fields of sports, mountaineering, marine, outdoor and industrial design and development. This linked with a strong bio-mechanics input, coupled with a test team of elite athletes in the mountain sport environment gives inov-8 the creative culture for next generation products.

I wanted so badly to like this shoe. I liked the feel, the look, and the support. However, when I wore them they dug into my ankles, making it very painful to walk.

I got this shoe to strengthen my feet after an injury resulting from years of wearing overly supportive shoes and Superfeet for arch support. They are just what I needed. They allow lots of movement in my feet, from my toes through my arch, and are a secure fit in the heel. They do run a half size small, as it says in the description. I usually wear a women's 7, and the 7.5 fits well. I also got the 268s for when it is not wet, as these are quite warm when I am not running in wet conditions.

I love these shoes. Women and men can wear them. My husband and I both own them. We live in Seattle so there's lots of rain and own 4 dogs so there's lots of walking in the rain. These do the trick and they're stylish too!

I love this shoe; it grips the trail nicely, even in the snow. I went for a group trail run and I am convinced these shoes kept me off the front of the group simply because of the better traction - and this was a very easy run. I think it would help even more in a competitive situation.

I am extremely satisfied with this shoe. I was concerned about unisex sizing, but I had no problems. There is a very comfortable insole. The traction in slush/snow/mud meets expectations. Lower cut around ankles than my Asics running shoes. These took a little getting used to.

I wear a women’s size 6.5 in regular shoes, size 7 in athletic, I ordered a size 7 in these, but had to return for a half size larger (7.5). For a gender neutral shoe, they fit great. Best of all, they are keeping my feet completely dry I’ve been walking in snow up to my shins, slushy ice (using spikeys over the shoes) and in the pouring rain and no soggy socks! These shoes are not cushy but they feel supportive. I have plantar fasciitis in both feet from wearing the wrong shoes, so right now, nothing feels great on my feet, but these feel better than most. 4.5 Stars.

Exactly what I needed to keep me on trails through winter. Super – light, but still keep my toes warm and dry. Perfect for snow and mud... any conditions short of deep snow or slick ice that need spikes. I will be buying more inov-8 shoes after this.

These shoes are fantastic! Coming from someone who never thought she would run more than 3 miles, much less in the below-zero Minnesota winter, these make all the difference if you suffer from cold feet. They keep your feet warm and dry and have marginally better traction than "normal" runners. They were comfortable from day one and never gave me any blisters or pain. If you like to run outside in the cold and snow, get these shoes.

Great all around trail-runner light hiker. Extremely comfortable, sharp-looking, secure lacing system, and very durable. Held up after a couple of machine-washings. The rubber is a bit squeaky on some surfaces.

I hike about 6-8 miles per trip and these shoes are very supportive around the ankle and have great traction in either mud /loose rock / hilly conditions. The Gore-Tex GTX lining works as advertised and it ventilates well enough to stay comfortable in the summer. These shoes are so good that I bought a second pair for when these wear out. I strongly recommend this product to anyone seeking a lightweight sturdy hiking shoe.

Best all around shoe for hiking, running, everything! Sturdy, ultra comfortable, roomy toe box. If you want the bottoms of your feet to feel like they are padded with three inches of incredibly soft material, select these shoes. They are waterproof and the best all around shoe that I've found...and I read a lot of reviews! These shoes also work well with orthotics which makes them dream shoes. Love, love, love Zappos.

I would buy again - I have run 50 miles with these shoes in summer\fall thus far and look forward to winter. Shoes have great traction dry and on wet semi muddy trails. Wet leaves have not been a problem either. Shoes are too hot to wear in the summer but is a 3 season shoe otherwise. Shoes have good support and do really well on dirt trails.

Very water proof and solid with plenty of support and effective lacing system except needs a little more cushion between laces and foot. Very good stability and great gripping from lugs on sole. However, lugs are deeper than non-trail so in muddy terain the lugs retain a total covering of mud making the shoe much heavier (biggest problem by far). Size is very short - had to go up a size and a half. Described as relatively narrow but is not. Average D width. Very little arch support but I replace removable insoles with others providing good support.
