Runs small, not comfortable -
The shoe runs a half size small and width at EE wasn't wide enough. I usually do fine with EE, but not these. Very stiff in the back & sides.

These shoes outperformed my expectations. I bought them for our trip to South America. We hiked the Galapagos Islands, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, etc. They provided all the support I needed and were very comfortable while hiking. I even waded through a stream without my feet getting wet. My only problem was that I have arthritis in my feet, so level street walking was not as comfortable as I would have liked. I would recommend these shoes for hiking and would buy them again.

If you have a problem with your feet pronating, you will love this shoe! It helped my foot heal from an injury in just a week. It is so comfortable and supportive. I listened to all the reviewers, thank you, who said to order one size larger as well as wider. That worked perfectly. Plus they're Gore-Tex so I can wear them in the rain. Zappos got them to me overnight with their regular free shipping. Thank you Zappos!

I wore these in the house for several hours debating about whether to keep them and kind of wish I had decided to send them back--too late now. They are fairly comfortable, but my feet get sweaty in them and that is unusual for me. They don't breathe well. I'm sure I'll wear them out--have been wearing them quite a bit, but wouldn't buy another pair--not good enough to be worth the price. They do run a little short. I wear 8.5 and after reading reviews bought a 9. This was the right size. Narrow size fits like it should.

I am very happy and pleased with these pair of shoes. I have plantar fasciitis, heel spur, neuroma, and very weak ankle, but these shoes are the best for all of the above. Protects my ankle, helps my heel for the whole day, and do not have to change my shoes for my hiking trips or even for walking on the curved fields. I can say I am in love with these shoes. Happy Feet -
I tried a number of shoes in an attempt to find something that fit well and was both comfortable and attractive. I started out a 1/2 size larger, but I had to go up a full size and width to get the perfect fit, but it worked. This one surpasses all expectations. Well done!

Great looking boot but rubbed on my right little toe -
These boots look really great, accommodate my custom orthotic, and felt great walking around the house when I tried them on. However, when I walked in them on my trip to Germany, I got a pressure blister on my right little toe on the very first day. They didn't feel too narrow, so maybe it's just an issue with their construction at that one point (I had no problems whatsoever on the left foot). I plan to take them to a cobbler to see if it can be stretched and hope that solves the problem. If I hadn't gotten the blister, I would have given them a 5-star rating.

Nice shoe -
I was looking for a shoe to take on a trip to England so waterproofing and comfort are essential. Initially, I found the high collar quite uncomfortable. I wore them with lambswool in my socks and after a few days where they have broken in nicely and I don't need any extra padding. I haven't been to England yet and haven't worn them in a really hard rain, but they are certainly comfortable for a full day of errands. I always wear a half-size larger in New Balance and I appreciate that they come in wider widths. You really need to try them on because different styles in the same size/width fit very differently.

Finally found a hiking shoe...
Very happy with all aspects of this shoe. Appreciate all the choices NB offers in terms of fit. Have very hard to fit feet because of bunions--wide forefoot and narrow heel. Had tried on 30 different shoes I thought would fit before this. Also is a nice looking hiking shoe--Doesn't look like an "orthopedic" shoe. Wish it was also waterproof, but not complaining!

I ordered this is a 6.5 and 7. WW...I usually wear 6W but wanted it larger for hiking socks...OMG! They hurt like heck with one regular sock...probably okay for normal width feet but not mine...too bad cuz they are cute and waterproof.

I ordered these shoes for my wife. She wears orthotics and often has problems with fitting. I took the advice of other reviews and ordered a half size larger than her usual 8 1/2 wide. She loves the shoes and the way they fit. Her arch supports insert nicely. Your service is excellent. My next shoes will be from Zappos.

Even the "wide" is too narrow try something else -
I had high hopes for these shoes but when I received them I tried them on immediately and barely could get my foot into them. The width was sooo small. I couldn't even get my foot all the way in. I usually wear a wide, that's what they said this was. However, it seemed "narrow" to me. Will never try New Balance again.

New Balance hiking shoes -
I was initially concerned about ordering a 2 E in this shoe but that was just adequate. I love the shoe but I would warn others to order a wider size than usual. My orthotics work very well in it and I walked miles over the Martin Luther King holiday.

I have tried other brands of hiking shoes, the last one's made a trip to the garbage upon our return, and it took about a month for the blisters to heal. These, especially with my custom orthotics (which raise the heel level a slight bit) are super comfortable. They keep my feet dry; they are light and offer great support, and so far... no blisters! I've been using them for my nightly walks and cannot wait to try them out on longer more vigorous hikes this spring. I try to stay out of the mud because the tread is a dirt magnet! But their comfort and support outweigh tracking in a little dirt! I love shopping through Zappos, I have had great success and your shipping policies are so shopper friendly!

NB Hiking Boot Review -
I ordered this boot so I could add my custom arch supports and I absolutely love it. I wear it every day and my feet have never felt better. Of course, Zappos made the ordering so easy and quick. These boots came the next day; I couldn't believe it! I do find that the boots does provide a little pressure on my ankle bone, but it doesn't stop my wearing them.

Great shoe for work and play.
I ordered a half size up as recommend by other reviews. They fit great with my orthotics. I have small wide feet with a high arch and making it difficult to find shoes, mens' sizes are too large. I work outside in the wet and mud, the color, GRE-TEX lining and stiff heel cup are an added bonus. The only problem I have is with the tongue if it isn't folded correctly it bunches. Thanks NB for making a comfortably, practical shoe and if you could redesign the tongue it would be perfect. Thank you to NB

I found this model to run narrow, I had to send back the first pair I ordered in a "D" and get the double "EE" - I have never had to do that with any other wide shoe. Took a while to break in as they are very stiff. New Balance makes a wide shoe but there is still not good toe room.

It was exactly what I had been looking for, waterproof, and easy to walk in. No one else seems to supply one for women. The service I received from Zappos was stellar, I had to return them once for the fit, the service representative was helpful, and cheerful. Would highly recommend Zappos.

I need a good outdoor working boot with good traction. This one fits the bill & its waterproof too. I did order a 1/2 size larger than what I normally wear to leave room for heavier socks.
