In ordering this shoe, you should order a whole size larger. I wear 10.5 and usually wear 11 when some shoes are "cut" smaller, but to my amazement on this shoe, I had to order a size 12. Being that these shoes are cut smaller, they appear smaller visually if that is a concern for some. Bare in mind that this style has no 1/2 size. These shoes look great with shorts, khakis, jeans, and are extremely comfortable. The all around padding/cushioning on the back side of the straps & tongue of the shoe makes it comfy in hot weather (you won’t get irritating blisters) when wearing these. The foot bed is made of material that won’t build up odor on repeated wear as with those that have the "material" absorbing pads in similar styles that I own. The only thing that I might say on the negative side to the inside foot bed is that your feet slide just a bit when they sweat, but does not interfere with the joy/comfort of wearing these. Since I live in the city, I refuse to wear flip flops and more power to those that do - these are a must alternative to flip flops. I find that these are MORE comfortable than flip flops and give you more protection against the city street elements. GET THEM! I’m getting another pair to have as a future back up!

I purchased the Teva Dozer mainly to do some hiking and mountain biking, I’ve tried out different sports sandals in the past and always ended up being disappointed, not with the Dozer. As a matter of fact I just ordered a third pair and have it in all available colors just to make sure I have enough. I mountain bike through some pretty rough terrain, mud, sand, wet & slippery rocks and I end up carrying the bike at times and need some sure footing and decent toe protection. I suffered a complete tear of the Achilles tendon in the past and cannot use clip on pedals so the sole of the shoes needs to be durable and non slippery. Overall the Dozer was able to meet with all the requirements at an excellent price and with superior comfort and nice style. I like all the colors and the fit is true to size. I highly recommend this sandal and as a bonus, no bad smell yet after a few months of using it.

I've never given a product a perfect 5 star rating until now. I'm 45 and have had reconstructive knee and back surgery, so support, and comfort are important. I've had my Teva Dozers about 2 weeks and have put them through the wringer. The shoe is true to size and width and performs as well as advertised. I just finished a 3+ mile fast walk with the pooch on the sidewalk and through the park where we encountered puddles and mud. My feet did slip a little after getting them wet but the sandals dried quickly when I returned to the pavement and finish the walk. I still prefer my hiking boots for the Colorado trails but for everything else these are perfect. They can be worn all day without blistering your feet or slowing you down. These are truly the best pair of sandals I've ever owned and I've owned a lot over the years. They are comfortable right out of the box and with Zappos unbeatable service it makes these sandals a win - win situation.

Zappos has such a great selection and very fast shipping, the choice for me was hard. The Teva Dozer sandals I chose were easily adjusted for a comfortable fit. The grid pattern on the insole was a bit of a problem for me, but an after market insole, to cover the grid, made them very comfortable. I will soon be in Europe wearing them for three weeks. They're a great fit.

Best travel shoe for warm climates. Great comfort, good protection. I just returned from a week in Hawaii, and only wore this shoe exclusively. My flip flops and trail/water shoes were never worn. Good on the beach, great in the water where protection and grip is needed. I hiked on rocks and muddy areas, and inside a cave (lava tube) with very irregular lava surface. Only caution is that you do need to take a little care with the openings, I found that occasionally a stick or rock touched my foot, but never enough to do any damage. The straps are easy to secure and hold your foot in place. The Teva Dozer is my new favorite.

Additional Brand Information

The Teva-lution began in 1984 on the raging rapids of the Colorado River, when Mark Thatcher invented the first sport sandal. It was a simple idea that birthed a new industry. Selling his first pairs of sandals out of the back of his van to friends and fellow boaters along the river, Mark named his new business Teva, which means ‘Nature’ in Hebrew.

Since the creation of Teva sandals over 20 years ago, their team has been providing authentic, outdoor performance footwear; it’s what they live for. They managed to create a perfect marriage between a boater’s flip flop and a protective, cushioned sneaker. Highly supportive yet quick drying, Teva’s sport sandals are perfect for a trip out to the river or any everyday adventure.

At Teva they not only feel strongly about their products, but also about nature and the environment. Providing positive contributions to the world is part of everything that they stand for. Teva remains committed to practicing the highest standards of progressive business practices relating to human and workers’ rights in all aspects of their manufacturing process.

Whether you’re looking for a serious river sandal or a comfortable sandal to lounge in after a long day outdoors, Teva sandals are the perfect fit for you.

Love the shoes, very comfortable and they look nice. I was surprised at how comfortable the part that surrounds your foot is. Recommend to anyone who likes to wear sandals, but these can handle a little more rugged trip if needed.

Good Value - Sturdy, comfortable and true to size. My son is 12 and loves them. He spends a lot of time on the side of ponds and the edge of water fishing. These are a perfect shoe for getting wet and still offering protection.

Great! Awesome foot bed comfort and support, and no rubbing. I can walk on cement all day and have no pain in my feet. I realize these are for hiking, but the foot padding and shock absorbing qualities of this shoe are incredible.

Great sandals for hiking on rocks and lava - These sandals are perfect for hiking on sharp lava or rocks. Kicking an occasional rock is no longer a painful experience as it is with ordinary open-toe sandals. They're also good for exploring tide pools. Perfect fit. Nice style. Great price. Shopping at Zappos for the first time was a great experience. It took less time to order than I expected, even though there is a wider selection.

Wonderful Work Shoe - I have plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendonitis. This shoe works well for me...light, supportive, durable. I am on my feet 8 hours a day and this shoe makes all the difference. This is a man’s shoe (I am a female) but I just used the sizing chart (here at Zappos) I had to return the first pair but received EXCELLENT customer service so had right size next day.

More than just a sandal - It took about a week, and one blister, before I had them broken in. They seem great for most outdoor activities though I haven't really put them through their paces yet. Overall, I'm pleased.

Amazing Sandals - Super Comfortable! I got these sandals 2 weeks ago and I can't take them off my feet. They are great, very comfortable and amazing for traveling and hiking. I already tested them out in water and they were really good. Highly recommended!

Great all-around shoe - Wow! I haven't bought a pair of Teva's for about 8 years now, and man, have I been missing out! These shoes are great for almost anything - the aggressive tread makes them suitable for hiking, while the breathable design keeps your feet cool yet well supported. The anti-microbial technology supposedly keeps the odors at bay, which has certainly helped on the long summer days. In the mocha color these shoes paired with khakis can work for an evening out.

Almost perfect - These sandals look and fit great right out of the box. I've only been wearing them for a few weeks now, so haven't had to use the tightening string. My only complaint is that the anti-microbial surface is not as comfortable on the bottom of my feet as it could be (it's a little sticky if your feet get wet or perspire). If they really don't smell a year from now, it will have been well worth it.

My husband really likes this shoe! I ordered these for him without his knowing, as he always rejects any suggestion of a sandal for summer. On arrival, he was intrigued by their appearance and the fact that they fit like a shoe but have the openness of a sandal. He likes the (mostly) closed toe. He has plantar fasciitis and this shoe helps alleviate that tremendously. He likes the support, too, and now wears them a lot. The only drawbacks for him are: 1) his little (pinkie) toes are not completely covered by the straps and he had to get used to the ends of them being exposed; and 2)when walking in beach or camping environments, he gets rocks in his sandals - but who doesn't? =0) Neither of those things are the fault of the shoe, which has excellent construction, looks great and is very comfortable. He's pleased with the Teva Dozer, so I am, too!

Do I have to take 'em off? Best shoe I've bought in at least 20 years! They allow my feet to sweat, to breathe, to hike, use the treadmill and walk for hours, whether I'm at an amusement park, on foot for the evening in urban environments, or standing around at the museum. I've even used them every morning at the gym and have thrown out my typical "workout" shoes.

Some problems - These shoes are very comfortable, but have their limits. First, anywhere you walk that is the least bit sandy (for example, the side of the road!), sand, pebbles, and other debris gets inside the shoe and is trapped. I was forced to stop every couple hundred of feet and empty out my shoe. If the shoe gets wet, you are doomed. Underneath the insole is some kind of cardboard (?) construction that disintegrated, destroying the insole. Also, the shoes took forever to dry and when they did, retained an odor that will not leave. If I hadn't used these shoes outdoors and they hadn't been exposed to the elements, they certainly would have remained the best, most comfortable shoes I'd ever owned. For me, they just didn't perform for their intended purpose.
