I bought these in the navy/silver color combo and have been very happy with them. They are wearing exceedingly well and the navy color hides all of the scuff marks & dirt that are usually the bane of athletic shoes. I highly recommend this shoe!

When I first moved to Philly, I had no inkling of the amount of walking I would be doing on a regular basis. I walk constantly - to school, to work, to get groceries - I walk everywhere I need to go. At first I was getting unbearable blisters every day. But then I noticed that no one on campus seemed to be limping around in excruciating pain and that they all seemed to be wearing the same sneakers - these guys. I winced at the price and finally ordered, thinking that these better be the most comfortable sneakers I've ever owned. Guess what - they are. I routinely walk 50 - 55 city blocks a day and have no foot pain at all. They took a little breaking in, but now they are all I wear. I will absolutely reorder when I need a new pair.

This is not the shoe for you if you have a narrow heel. The medium widths had plenty of room in the toe box for me (even with the bunion on my left foot), however my heel would not stay in place no matter how many different ways I tied the laces. They were just unbearable to run in for more than 5 minutes, which is unfortunate because I really wanted these to be the fit I was looking for, especially with all the cushioning throughout. I almost kept them anyway, thinking I'd just use them for casual wear rather than running because I do like the gray/monotone look. But to my dismay, I soon found out that even normal wear was making my feet hurt, and I felt an odd pain in my heel that I never felt before. Oh well, I found a pair of Nike LunarTrainers off Zappos that are just absolutely perfect for my feet, and it was just a matter of finding the right fit. I can see where the NB W992s work for some, but just not for me.

Hooray for narrow shoes -
I typically have to buy a half size down because my feet are so narrow, so I really appreciate New Balance's range of available widths. These were comfortable right out of the box. My only (minor) complaint is that they come up a bit high in the back, which I've always found slightly uncomfortable.

Smart looking shoe!
I'm a New Balance fan, but this was the first NB sneaker I had to return to Zappos. I never had so much heel slippage before in a NB sneaker, and unfortunately I had to return these. I was impressed by everything else including the stability around the ankle. This is an attractive looking sneaker and it doesn't make your feet look huge. If only there had been additional material in the heel like the NB 840 series and NB 926 sneakers, then I would have kept them. Thank you Zappos for making returns so easy.

Comfort at last!!!
My foot doctor recommended this shoe for me. I stand for 12 hours at a time in business and I have a heel spur and a pulled tendon. These shoes are so comfortable. I bought 1/2 size larger to accommodate an arch support but they are great, I really love them and am no longer in pain.

I love my 992's -
I have suffered from PF for over 18 months. I inserted my orthotics and have worn these shoes almost exclusively for the past few weeks. My pain has decreased by 80%! Amazing. Zappos was very easy to work with and I received my sneakers fast! I'm a very happy customer.

A Winner!
This shoe is a very nice, light, all-purpose shoe. Its cool mesh material helps when working out and its accommodated my orthotics quite nicely. I am quite happy with this New Balance shoe.

They are perfectly wonderful! I have long and narrow feet and New Balance shoes always fit perfectly.

New Balance W992 -
I had just begun a rigorous walking workout that involves a 5 to 6 mile walk on pavement, much of which is uphill. I bought these shoes based upon the reviews on your site. Around the house and town they are fine. However, when I wore them on my walk I found them extremely uncomfortable. I gave them a few tries, thinking I needed to get used to them but I have now retired them completely. A walk that was enjoyable became very painful, the shoes were a deterrent. Not a good fit at all. Very hesitant to purchase a shoe that I can not try on beforehand again.

Try A Tongue Pad -
For those of you who feel the heel is too loose, you could try one of those felt tongue pads. The addition of a tongue pad may gently push you back into the heel and make the heel fit better. It worked for me. I love these shoes. I broke my foot this past summer and needed a shoe with some support and these work. They do run 1/2 size larger than marked.

Love my 992s -
I love my new 992s in Grey, and kudos to Zappos for helping me get my hands on the narrow width! I've only ever had a couple of pairs of sneakers that fit my feet correctly and these are one of them. I find the greenish color on the heel kind of odd, but it doesn't take too much away from the look of the shoe. It seems to look like a slightly lighter grey in the pictures, but it is more of a sea foam green, so if you are buying this shoe for its looks, be aware of this.

If you're looking to relieve back pain, shin splints, and knee pain, I highly recommend these shoes. Although, I buy a pair every 3 months due to my job duties as a courier. The New Balance 992 is worth every penny!!!

Lots of cushioning maybe order a 1/2 size smaller -
I have high arch and wide feet. I have pretty much given up any kind of running, but I did the foot test of Zappos and studied the list of shoes and came to this one. It’s much more expensive than I wanted, but I figured it’s worth it if it can get me exercising more. It is very well made (In the USA) but I wish I would have ordered a 7.5 instead of an 8. Perhaps I'm just used to wearing 8 regular width- sizing up to accommodate width. I had already worn them so outside so I won't be able to return them and I don't think they will wear out anytime soon, so this purchase was a little bittersweet for me, alas, that is my fault. The shoe and Zappos are terrific!
PS: This shoe doesn't have arch support per se, but overall cushioning.

Extremely satisfied - Love these shoes. No break in necessary, simply put them on and go. I wear orthotics and they fit just fine. I have only had them for about a month so don't know how long they will last; I tend to go through soles pretty quickly, however these look like they may hold up better than most. I hope so. The Zappos service was extraordinary. I placed my order in the afternoon and the shoes were delivered the next day, early afternoon.

What an awesome shoe! My daughter wears a uniform and it is very difficult to find a pretty basic shoe. This one is absolutely adorable with its quilted hearts! It is so light and comfortable. My daughter always complains about her shoes feeling too tight, too loose, whatever - but not this shoe. She put it on and it fit like a glove. If your Cinderella is difficult to please, definitely give this slipper a try!

The most comfortable shoes I own. This is just an outstanding shoe. Plenty of support, excellent styling (I love the way these shoes look), and lightweight too. Great for weak ankles -
I have always had problems with other sneakers due to my ankles turning in whenever I go over uneven pavement or rocky terrain. These sneakers keep them and my feet stable and makes for a balanced and even stride. They are a bit large and bulky looking, but the fit, comfort, and stability give it 5 stars.
