Awesome Ropers. I purchased a pair of these last year and I can't begin to describe how delighted I am with these boots. They're comfortable, sturdy and stylishly understated. They don't stand out too much, but just enough to look good and feel good. When I first put them on in the store and walked around in them, I thought they were used. But no, a good close look at them confirmed that they were brand new...no shoe, no boot, no tennis shoes, NOTHING I've bought for my feet, with the exception of new socks, felt that good! One year later, I'm still happy with my purchase and I fervently recommend this product to all.

Needs a wide category - Was not true to size. I was sorry that a "made in USA" product didn't work.

Great functional boot - I had a pair of Frye boots years ago. Trend pushed me to a new pair for urban wear and I'm quite happy with function and style.

Do I need to break 'em in? Beautiful boots. I ordered an 11 after trying a Frye engineer boot in that size at a shop. They do slide a tad and I have compensated with a thicker sock. I am nursing a blister right now (I walk a good deal and sort of used bad judgement!) and thinking these will be fabulous once I break em in. The styling can't be beat. Understated but masculine, tasteful and functional, especially if you roam in an urban context. The low heel is nice too, no horses out here.

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Unbelievable! I own a pair of these and I can't believe how comfortable they are. I usually find boots to be either too narrow feeling or too short feeling in the toe even if they are the correct size. But these caress my feet and don't crowd my toes. They felt 1/2 size larger than they truly are! I recommend highly.

The best boots ever! These are by far the best boots I have ever owned. They are very comfortable and look great. Get them one-half size smaller and you will be good to go. The sevice and delivery at Zappos was first rate. Thank You!!

From walking the streets of SoHo to firing up your Harley and cruising country roads, the Frye Roper is the boot to slip on. The styling is chic with just a hint of hard edge. Fashion and comfort are blended to create an environment that your feet will crave. Buy them now or be left behind!!

Nice Boots But... It took the third pair of these boots to get one that did not have quality problems. I hope this was just an anomaly since Frye has had such a good reputation. Could not have asked for better service from Zappos staff. The boots did size like other comments mention, I usually wear a 9 in a boot, but 8.5 was a good fit. Am enjoying the boots.
Brands I'd also recommend: Ariat is equal to Frye for this style boot

Frye - Have wore Frye boots since 1967, wore a pair of black boots with uniform while in us navy and this I thought added to the uniform. Have worn several pair since and always have really good feeling about wearing Frye. Bought my son a pair several yrs. ago and he still wears them and they still look great.

Frye Roper - Perfect fit and comfortable right out of the box. I'm a perfect size 12, and often find footwear in this size is too small in the toe box. The Frye Roper fit perfectly, and is very comfortable right out of the box.

Frye Roper 10 D - As I remembered of Frye... The boots are excellent. Soft, cool and comfortable. Easy to break-in in a day or two, true to size and width, and a great dark color. I'm REALLY happy with them!

Super Comfortable Roper - This was by far the easiest pair of boots to break-in. Within a couple of wearings they felt like I had worn them for years. Great all-around boot to wear with casual attire, no Western-wear needed to complement the boots. The rubber soles are a plus in inclement weather.

Great boots...AMAZING service! While I knew exactly what to expect with the boots (I'd shopped them in a store and they just didn't have the color I was looking for), I had no idea that Zappos had such amazing service. I knew that one or two day shipping was the norm, but I ordered these on a Saturday afternoon and they just arrived this morning...Monday! The boots fit perfectly and are exactly what I was looking for, but I'm sure that Zappos would have taken care of me had I needed to return for a different size. I highly recommend these boots, and be sure to buy them from Zappos if you are in the market for a new pair of Fryes!

These shoes are sturdy and comfortable. I bought these for motorcycle riding and got in a few rides before snowfall here in Northern Michigan. It's the best feeling boot I have ever worn on the bike. I wear them like a casual shoe, too.
