I've had these boots for a year now, and they are holding up great. They broke in quickly, are wonderfully comfortable, and look fabulous. These are loud boots--something about the heel clomps like nobody's business. The buckle sometimes jingle a bit as well.

After looking at approximately 500 pair of similar style boots, ranging in price from $400 to $75, I bought these. Made in USA; quality throughout, stylish yet rugged. Didn't want the fussy zippers and doodad ornamentation found on most similar boots. These are straightforward, utilitarian, and cool as hell!

These Frye Engineers are heavy, thick, stiff leather boots, yet still comfortable and great looking. I expect them to last for many years and they should get better looking and even more comfortable over time. You can't beat Zappos for customer service. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.

Let me first start by saying these boots are amazing! In fact all Frye boots are! I ordered these boots and the Frye square toe harness boots as well and love them both! I ordered the first pair of Frye boots two years ago and they are still looking amazing and holding up perfectly! They have outstanding quality! And these boots, even though I have only had them for a couple days, wear extremely nice and look incredibly fashionable. Second, I'd also like to say I love Zappos! Their quality of service is unparalleled to any other company. Their fast shipping and amazing return policy always has me coming back to do business. Even customer care is outstanding. I will never buy shoes anywhere else! Zappos is the best thing to have ever happened! Thank you Zappos!

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

These boots are great. I have been wearing them almost every day for the last 2 years and they still look and feel amazing. I am not easy on them either; they have seen many miles of rain, sleet, and snow. One can really see and feel the quality of these boots. You can by cheaper brands that try to imitate, but the soles will be flapping in a matter of time. I should be able to get another 2 years out of these easy; in fact, I think they are just broke in now! Also, I ordered a half size lower than my normal size.

This is a top quality American man's boot with a lot of curb appeal. I had a pair of black 12 R's a few years ago and these brown 8 R's are a little less biker and a little more hip looking. This boot in a 12 R would be about perfect because my pant leg does occasionally hang up on the 8 R's. An inside zipper would be nice too because they pull on a little tight. They're are very comfortable once on. I'm not the best looking guy in town but when I put on these boots I feel damn cool.

Okay, I have been wanting these boots for a while. They rock. Full grain leather and great craftmanship. Zappos was super quick. What a great company! I will continue to try Zappos first when I need new boots or shoes. Thank you!

ZAPPOS IS THE BEST! The quality of Frye boots can't be beat. I had some heel slip in these which is to be expected with most pull on boots. Easily remedied with some insoles. As always, Zappos is the best!

Great boot! These boots are well made and look great. They are a little larger than the shoe size would indicate, but nothing a thicker sock wouldn't compensate for. Very well made and sturdy.

Fan of Frye - I am a huge fan of Frye shoes/boots, the material and quality is second to none. I applied one coat of mink oil as soon as I got the boots, they get a "richer" look every time I wear them.

Great boots - Feel great after break-in. I've had mine for over 6 months and I wear them almost every day; they still look new. These boots are high quality, therefore I recommend them.

Exactly what I expected! I have this boot in a slightly different style. The heel is the same height but the cuff is higher. I love this shorter version. These boots are heavy and heavy, stiff and leathery. A good thick sock is the perfect companion. This will be my summer version. My Frye "flip-flop" if you will.

A Super Boot - The top could be an inch higher. Otherwise it is a great boot. It felt great from the first time I put it on and as it gets broken in it feels even better.

Super comfortable - These boots are REALLY comfortable. I wanted a pair of pull on boots that would be a little more durable than tennis shoes. I'm a carpenter, so the heel wouldn't work on a roof. But I wear them around the shop. What I didn't expect is how comfortable they are! You won't believe this, but they feel better than tennis shoes. I have narrow feet, and they fit like they were custom made for me. I LOVE THESE BOOTS.

Cool boots - I tried a number of Fry boots on, and this it the pair that fits the best. I have a high instep, so I couldn't even get in the other ones. This one is better, and now it slips on easier. I am a lineman (power lines, not football) and the boots rugged style suits me great. The footbad is not very padded, but that doesn't bother me, it's fine with a thicker pair of socks. And my wife finds them "hot", so all the better.

Anonymous from Cleveland - Very nice boots. Ordered them at 4:00 ET and received them the next morning. I'm between sizes and went for the smaller size; is recommended. Fit great (a little tight in the arch but mine are very high, I'm sure they will stretch to fit). Very happy with the boots and Zappos.

Cool Boot, Great Service - These are great looking, comfortable, American made boots with much better quality and fit than certain brands made elsewhere that I have tried. The "gaucho" color is a very dark brown. Do as others advise and order a half size down from your usual size. Mine felt comfortable right out of the box, which arrived on the doorstep just two days after my order thanks to a Surprise free delivery upgrade. Great experience all around.
