I have wide feet, wear orthotics, and this is the ONLY boot that I found that works for me. I walk everywhere and this is my go-to-boot with jeans. I wore the same boot for 2 years and despite the fact I had heels put on, the "inside support" no longer is there so I bought this new pair. The finish is still leather but in that suede finish. I think reviews should be more about foot structure and foot needs! If you have difficulty finding boots that fit, and if you find one that works for you, that is the best review and happy ending that anyone can give!

I had bought the high Captivas and was very happy with them. I was going to Paris in December and rain was predicted. I didn't want to have high boots, so I went and bought the mid Captiva. I didn't have time to "break them in." I wore them all over Paris in the rain for 4 days and they were incredibly comfortable (I did put a "powerstep" orthotic in them and removed their footbed). I like wearing thick ski socks in the winter and the 7.5 fit perfectly with them (I am normally a 7.5). I don't think they're the most stylish boot, but very comfortable and waterproof. I am thinking of buying another pair for when these wear out. But my son is really into European fashion and he was in Paris with me and thought they were totally fine, so maybe they are good looking. (He did not want me to wear sneakers or hiking boots!) I even wore them home on the plane for 7 hours, as my suitcase was full of chocolate I had bought and I didn't have room for the boots. Very comfortable! My foot is wide at the toes and narrow at the heels.

Great boot. Utilitarian, good for wet wintry weather, I can slip my orthotics 3/4 foot in them for perfect support, not all brands can fit them. Warm and great with wool socks. I can wear them every day and do a lot of walking with my orthotics in them. Looks good with jeans and casual pants. Not fancy looking.

These boots are the best I have ever worn! They have a cool, biker boot kind of vibe and they don't look waterproof. I have wide feet and very severe plantar fasciitis. My "street" shoe orthotics fit in these boots perfectly. I wore them all over NY with no pain, which is amazing for me. They look super cute with black leggings. I also like the height because I have a large calf and it's hard to find taller boots that fit. The color is a nice dark gray suede and not black black.

These Merrells are great. Simple design. They run about a full size larger. I bought 1/2 smaller to wear with thick socks - still have some wiggle room.
