I agonized over whether or not to buy these
boots. I wanted
boots that I could wear all day without my feet hurting, and I wasn't sure these would do that. They felt okay out of the box, but the top of the boot felt slightly tight around the upper part of my foot, near the instep. I don't have high arches or insteps or anything. Plenty of room in the toe-box, and although they are high, they didn't immediately feel like a high heel (no pressure on the toes, no scrunching). I finally got up the nerve to wear them out, and I am so pleased now. I have worn them for two days
running errands, shopping, walking around, working, and my feet feel just fine. I am not a high heel person and can't stand pressure on the balls of my feet (I mostly wear
sneakers or my
Keen boots), and although these are quite high they did not feel at all like
high heels, even after a whole day. Typical
Jambu footbed - looks like a heel, feels like a sneaker. The tightness around the instep that I worried about didn't bother me at all. I haven't tried sightseeing or
hiking or anything like that in them, but they are definitely okay for a day of
running errands and being on one's feet, even for a non-heel-tolerant person like me. Also very stable, so I don't feel like I'm tottering and I can walk completely normally, carry my toddler, chase my toddler, etc. I have the beige color, which looks good with
jeans. I've been wearing them tucked in. I like that they look good with "straight-leg" skinny
jeans, not just "jeggings," and a little extra fabric in the knee area doesn't make them look funny. The shaft is a great height for a short person - I am 5'2" and have trouble finding
boots that don't come up too high. These are the perfect shaft height. I found them to be true to size, but a half size bigger than the other Jambu's I have, which tend to run a half size small. I am normally an 8 (7.5 in
Jambu sandals), and I tried these in an 8 and 8.5 and went with the 8. Some of my other
boots are 8.5 because I like them looser so I can wear with
socks, but these were better in 8, especially because the shaft is a bit higher in 8.5 and the lower shaft of the 8 looked better. I can wear with stockings or thin
socks, but not thick
socks. As for the calf width, they are perfect on me. I don't have really average calves, and these have enough room for
jeans without any gaping. The tie in the front is actually a working adjustment, and can make the
boots fit more or less tightly around the calves. All in all, I really love these. I have gotten compliments on them, and they make me feel kind of tall and glamorous without feeling awkward and having painful feet. Fans of
Jambu shoes should find these as comfortable as most other Jambus.
