I have always bought the
Ariat Heritage paddock boot in the past. I wear them every day, 365 days a year out in the barn and I go through at least a pair a year. The comfort of the Volant footbed is what caught my attention, and indeed it is very comfortable. However, they are so stiff it is like putting on a boot of iron. The heel area is big and my heel
slides up and down, causing friction. The boot does not come up high enough to give ankle support. The worst part? Due to the width of the boot at the ankle (with the zipper and the thick
velcro cover) there is no way you can wear these with any half chaps. And forget about the Volant half chaps; unless your ankle is as wide as your calf, they don't fit well, and they are stiffer than a new pair of
dress boots. I am going back to the Heritage for sure. Save your money and avoid these!
