I bought this show because the OmniHeat brand of Columbias that I have are a little too warm for spring and summer. The OmniHeat pair fit perfectly, so I was hoping to find another pair that would fit just as well. While the Big Cedars don't feel quite as comfortable (the heel isn't as plush) they are more comfortable and supportive than several other pairs of Columbias I've had, most of which were low cut, and easily beat out 2 pairs of Timberlands I had. I don't do any
hiking or even long walking. I wear
hiking shoes due to a bone cyst in the metatarsal, which makes walking painful. Generally,
hiking shoes have enough support and cushioning to make it comfortable. These shoes make it easy enough for me to walk around without an outrageous limp. Style-wise, these are your typical Columbias: earthy brown, black, whatever colors are available. Nothing overly flashy, which keeps me from looking too much like a moron (at least, not because of my shoes anyway). Overall, I'd recommend these shoes to anyone who likes the
hiking shoe style, or who wants a comfortable, rugged shoe to wear for everyday activities.
