The New Balance shoes I've been wearing for the last 15 years seemed to be getting bulkier and bulkier and I wanted something lighter/trim. Also, my 7 year old daughter has started playing soccer and I wanted something that could be a nice everyday shoe, but also could work as a decent soccer shoe while playing with her. I was a bit apprehensive about wearing the Nike Gato IC. I had worn Nike about 30 years ago and the experience wasn't that great because they wore out comparatively quickly. Frankly, I'm much larger than I was then and there didn't appear as though they would have sufficient padding, especially after coming from New Balance. However, these have been a real surprise. They have been better than I could have hoped for. They are stylish, comfortable, and the padding is, in my opinion, superior to that of the much thicker New Balance (622's) I had been wearing. Unlike New Balance which appears to rely on both the insole and sole for padding, the Gato's sole provides all of its cushioning. I don't know how, I just know it does. I've been wearing a size 14 EE in New Balance for about 6 years (it's true, foot size does increase with age!). I tried a 14 in the Nike and they were way too tight. Zappos was great and sent the 15's before I had even returned the 14's. The 15's fit great. This is doubly surprising considering that it is also a medium width. Size 15 is also the largest in this shoe, so I'm out of luck if my feet "grow" (spread) more. Summary: Pros: Stylish, more comfortable that they would appear, good ankle support, and excellent padding considering the thinness of the sole. Cons: The insole is glued in. Size 15 Nike is about same as a New Balance 14. Potential long-term problem with sole compressing over time, reducing cushioning. Neither are show stoppers.

This is a very stylish and comfortable shoe. It is a little bit narrow and runs about a half size small. My boyfriend loved it, too, and insisted I order him a pair. We ordered another two pairs. Zappos is the best. Great service and worry-free shopping.

When I was first looking for new indoors I came across these because the price was so great! I read through the reviews and decided to order a half size up and I'm very glad that I did. The shoes are pretty narrow but it says that in the description I think. If I ordered my normal size (9.5) I'm positive they would've been too tight. I literally ordered these shoes yesterday and now I am already wearing them next day--very impressed with shipping.

Comfort: A little past the midpoint (closer to Asics) between Jack Purcell canvas shoes and Asics 2160 running shoes. Style: Low profile and muted with only the Nike swoosh being discernible. Sizing: I found this to be the biggest issue regarding these shoes. While most reviewers advised to go half a size bigger, I found the length still coming up short. I compared the 12.5 insole to my Asics 12 insole and the Nike came up a quarter of an inch short. While soccer shoes should feel snug, one must differentiate between snug and simply being too small. When I measured a 13 Gato insole to my 12 Asics, the Gato was a quarter of an inch longer, yet still felt properly snug when worn with the traditional (i.e. Hanes) cotton athletic socks.

I originally purchased a pair of these shoes in my size (11), but upon trying them on, I found that they were too snug on my feet. Zappos knows how to take care of their customers though, and I was promptly refunded and received my new size 11.5's today. I do not play soccer and wear them strictly casually. They look great with jeans, so don't be afraid to check them out. Free returns make online shopping worry free.

Unbelievably durable and well made: my 13-year old son wears these day in and day out, as an all day shoe as well as for futsal and soccer on the playground. They have good structure for kicking, and they've lasted and lasted and lasted. The soles are wearing out, but the uppers haven't busted out the way most shoes eventually do. I have a pair of Adidas Sambas, and they feel more like a slipper than a real shoe, compared to these.

This was the first time I ever purchased shoes online and first from Zappos.com; I have to say that it was a great experience and I will be purchasing from here more often. As for the Nike5 Gato, they are truly wonderful shoes. I first bought them for indoor soccer play but after realizing how nice they are I decided to wear them on a regular. They are light, comfortable, and quality of the shoe is just amazing. I am actually thinking about purchasing another pair not to far in the near future. Great buy! You won't be disappointed.

Great shoes, nice touch, light, and very quiet on the field to the point I really do feel like a feline when moving around. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone that wants a comfortable shoe with great touch. Thumbs up Nike.
