I switched to these after many years (20+?) of wearing
New Balance. I'm a 41 year old, 260 pound triathlete (Clydesdale), and a midfoot runner who wears a 4E width. There aren't a lot of
running shoes offered in 4E, but I've tried them all and returned all the others: primarily
New Balance and
Asics. I wore out a pair of the GTS 11 and now run in this new GTS 12. Other than color and a few minor visual changes I can't tell any difference between the GTS 11 and GTS 12. I wear 9.5 in NB and
Asics and 10 wide in
Rockport dress shoes, but 10.5 in these, so they're a bit small. Overall, I'm very pleased with the performance of these shoes, and shoes are difficult enough for my needs that it's a big deal. I'm also fairly happy with the price, though it's creeping up. If the toe box were just a bit taller they'd be perfect. More colors in the 4E width would be nice, but not necessary. I use these exclusively for
running 4 days per week, typically 5k to 10k per run. Being a midfoot runner I can't comment on the heel cushioning at all: I wear out the sole under the metatarsals (middle of the shoe forward to the toes) and the heels appear completely untouched.
