After weeks of reading reviews and blogs I decided on Brooks Defyance 4's as my new
running shoe. Naturally, my size was next to impossible to find, so I bought the Defyance 5's without a single review being read. I hoped Brooks would improve on an already good shoe and I believe they did. These are hands down the best
running shoes I have ever owned. I have only put a little over 20 miles on them so far, but they have exceeded my expectations. The fit is perfect and they are very comfortable!

I have been looking for neutral
running shoes that are comfortable on my feet but built solid for an older runner with lower leg issues. I have found that shoe in the Defyance 5. The shoe has a very comfortable upper that does not rub on the side of my feet or pinch. As long as Brooks makes these shoe I will buy them from Zappos!

Been a fan of the Defyance line since I first ran in the 3's. The change in cushioning material (from Hydroflow to BioMoGo/DNA) is strikingly noticeable, and while it felt strange at first, after a few runs, I definitely came to prefer it. The other significant difference is that I seem to be landing more on the mid-foot as opposed to heel striking with these.

Bought these for my husband, he's put them on and has wore them everyday and hasn't said a word after the first day, honey, I like my shoes, thanks. Enough for me.

I do like Brooks shoes. This is the 3rd pair I have owned and by far the best for me. I am a low mileage runner (about 15 miles per week). But I went from Dyad to Ghost to Defyance and these are just about perfect for me.

The Brooks Defyance 5 shoes are absolutely the most comfortable
running shoes I have ever owned. They fit like a glove, and they don't bother my plantar fasciitis. I would continue buying the Brooks Defyance but, unfortunately, Brooks has discontinued wide sizes in the new Defyance 6 model. At least I was fortunate enough to buy last pair of Defyance 5 in 12EE on Zappos!

My husband has been a walker and runner for 30 years and has used Brooks shoes for about 15. This is the first time he's used this model. He really loves them and says they are the best he has worn.

I bought these primarily with my 30 minute daily walk in mind but I also use them as my everyday casual footwear. They provide a nice balance between cushioning and support. They are very comfortable with no break in required. I tried on the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 12 in a local store and like both the feel and colors of these shoes better. My previous
New Balance cross trainers were size 10½D, I needed an 11D in these shoes. Zappos' part was as touted, very well executed.

I have been wearing the Defyance for many years now after replacing my old favorite, the Adrinaline. I love this Defyance models. The only problem I have it that the right shoe seems a tad smaller than the left. I hope it's just a one-pair mistake in the manufacturing process because I am ordering a new pair. The toe box seems a bit tight and the heel seems odd in the right shoe as well. Never have had this problem in any Boorks shoe until now. I've waited 8 months to write this review because I wanted to make sure I wasn't imagining things and to see if they would wear in but they did not. I think the only reason I didn't return them when I first received them was because I did think it would eventually give way. I still like the shoe and will continue to buy Brooks. It will take more than one pair of semi-ill fitting shoes to take away from the years of happiness the other pairs have given me.
