This is a fantastic mat. My instructor had one, and I used it during a demonstration. I'm 5'10" and found the size, grip and cushion to be just about perfect. Inevitably, with a substantial mat (it's larger than typical), this is not one many would like to carry back and forth to class. I keep this at my parents' house for when I visit. If you're not walking too far - or don't mind the weight - it wouldn't be bad, though. I carry my black mat without much trouble, but I can see where many people would rather schlep something lighter.
