Great backpack! Fits my 15" laptop, has space for folders and files all in a very easily accessible zippered section that is separate from the main compartment. Well designed.

Wow, this bag is so comfortable! My Toshiba Satellite fits perfectly with the protective sleeve in the laptop compartment. I am planning on using this as a travel and school bag while I study overseas this next year. I really love the style of this bag as well. It is classy and sporty all in one!

I just received this backpack as a gift. I am a Phd student and I needed something to carry loads of books and my laptop. It's perfect. I was first given the women's one, but I sent it back as the men's feels better and is a bit bigger. I am 5'7 and 125 if that helps. Overall, I think this is a terrific bag!

This is a beautiful back pack with lots of wonderful pockets and a good-sized laptop compartment. As great as this backpack is, I am going to have to return it. It is just too heavy! Even when I only have one book, notebook, and some pens, I feel like I am carrying so much more weight. I am very disappointed, as I love the quality, color, and compartments. If weight is not an issue, I highly recommend this back pack.

This is definitely the best backpack I've ever owned. Lots of pockets and the padding makes it very comfortable to wear. Very good quality material.

This is the only pack I will ever own. Hopefully you will find this helpful because I am going to be very specific about the laptops I pack (not in tandem). For work I lug around a Lenovo ThinkPad T400 15 with 6-cell battery and it slips right in with room to spare for a notepad, magazine, etc. Now, this is where it gets tricky and I realize it's a personal choice. I also use the Surge M to carry my Sony VAIO F Series 16.4 (on the plump side) and I have to carefully slide it in to avoid the zipper. The fit is snug, not tight, since you can slide the unit in and out.

It took a few backpacks, but I finally found the one for me. I can fit my 15 inch MBP in the laptop slot, a few books or binders or iPad in the main pocket, and I still have room for power cables, cords etc. There are plenty of pockets inside and out for ample organization and two water bottle slots on each side. Love this bag! North Face has won me back from Timbuk2!

I must have shopped at least 7 laptop backpacks before deciding on the North Face Surge II. In the end it came down to quality, brand reputation, capacity, and design. Because of my narrower shoulders I wanted strap support across my chest to keep straps from slipping off, and they needed to be comfortable as well. The North Face was comfortable on my back and the bottom and top hand straps were very convenient when handling the pack off my back. Very well designed interior for pens, tablets, magazines, clothing articles, cameras and perfect for my 15" MacBook Pro with accessories. Lots of pockets and on the exterior sides for water bottles. Just great for airline travel. Hardly noticed it as we walked Disney World for 3 days.

Awesome backpack - super comfortable, and a great combination of staying sleek but still having a lot of storage. I thought I would get a little more storage out of it. It is tough to make it work as the sole bag for a trip longer than a day or two, but is great for short trips, and is my everyday bag for work.

Fantastic backpack. My daughter wanted a North Face backpack that she could fit her laptop in, which is a little large, and this is perfect. (The woman's version was a bit too small.) Enough pockets to keep everything organized, strong enough to not fall apart, and comfortable. The straps and clips are adjustable, which means the chest cross-strap can be raised or lowered - particularly relevant if you're female. Oh, and it looks really good, which matters if you're a teenage girl. Her friends have asked to borrow it for a few days, but she's just not willing to let go of it that long. My first thought was that it was a little pricey, but finding the right backpack the first time means not having to replace it yearly, which in the long run saves money. I don't regret this purchase even a little bit. The problem? I like it, too. Enough that I sometimes wish she didn't like it so much - so I could claim it. No such luck. Now, if only I had a good reason to replace my backpack...
