Alegrias are so comfortable and so much fun! I bought the basic black Paloma for choir performances when I have to stand still for over an hour. But now I have thrown caution to the wind and own four more pairs, including the fun prints and ones with bejeweled buckles! I have always worn
Danskos for the
arch support, but these are even better. I disagree with all those who say they run big, or maybe I just like them looser. I wear a 7-1/2 in most shoes, which according to the Alegria
size chart is a 37. But I wear a 38 in
Danskos and
Birkenstocks because I don't want them to hug my foot like a sneaker, so for me, the Alegria 38s are perfect. If you want them to feel secure like a
running shoe or fashion pump, buy a size smaller. If you want to wallow in comfort and have happy feet, buy your true size. (Having said that, I must add a detail: I buy the 38s in the closed styles - Paloma and Feliz and in the Classics, but a 37 in the open-toe
sandals.)
