Just received my
Caterpillar Nitrogens. I normally wear a 9 wide, but ordered a 8.5 normal since other customers reported it being a 1/2 size larger (and my current 9 wide
Caterpillar composite-toe
boots definitely have more than just enough wiggle room.) After waking around the house in them, I would say they feel a full size larger and that I'll need to order an 8 to properly fit my foot. I definitely need to get a wide as I can feel the wide area of my foot pressing against the sides. I feel that the top four shoelace hooks are definitely sturdy, but they took a longer time to lace as compared to metal shoelace hooks, probably because the metal hooks on my current
boots have slowly opened up over time. They look just like the pictures and video, which is a little more stylish than the standard work boot. Lighter as well (even compared to my current composite-toe
boots). Good ankle support, nice padding, great construction, and the outsole definitely feels non-skid. As for comfort, take these comments with a grain of salt since I didn't order my correct size:
arch support is present, the heel is definitely comfortable, but I felt pressure at the ball of the foot area (probably because of the incorrect width). I think it would take some time to break in the front-upper portion where the re-enforced toe ends and the rest of the upper begins, as bending the foot while kneeling presented some resistance. A more padded
insole would be nice, but I say that with practically all my new
boots. Waiting to exchange it when they get black 8 wides back in stock -- will provide an update then.
