This is my 4th pair of Frye boots. I just can't find another make that is comparable in quality. I have had great wear out of mine, but my daughter thinks their soles wear out quickly for the price. I am not hard on shoes so I can't agree with her. I wasn't sure which black to order so I called. It was explained to me that Black Soft Vintage is one solid color where as the Black Vintage is a bit worn looking and the Black rub off, even more so. I went with Black Soft Vintage. I had passed on these last year at Nordstroms and always regretted it. I only allowed myself one pair and the Jane cuff were it (another beauty). I had sleepless nights since (only partially kidding) so I went for them before they get sold out. I am a true 7 1/2 and that is what I ordered. I had no problem getting my foot in. They were a tad big with knee high stockings so I put socks on and they fit perfectly. Very comfortable. Any smaller, they would squeeze my toes. I have one foot slightly wider than the other, therefore I need to always take that into account. I do have to say that I did order these last year in tan and I wasn't as impressed with the quality . The leather was a bit cardboard like. (therefore went with the Jane cuff in tan instead). The leather on the soft black vintage is beautiful. I also found that the 7 1/2 in tan were so much smaller. I couldn't get my foot in whereas in the black, my foot goes right in. Perhaps there is a discrepancy between colors and size. Not sure. I love these and happy I decided to finally splurge. Frye boots are a bit addicting.

I loved these boots on screen but in real life they're so much better! The smell, the feel of the leather, the craftsmanship are all perfect but then again that's just Frye. I have the Jane stitch in redwood and I love them now as much as I did when I got them 4 years ago. Here are a few things I've found with these boots now that I have them in hand: 1. The black soft vintage looks really vintagy and actually borderline black/gray. I love it. Though if you're looking for something a little dressier, this color may not be it. I think the black vintage is a truer black from what I've heard. 2. No matter the boot or brand, I always have issues fitting my thick calves into boots. Most boots I can't even get half way up my calf. These are a 15" circumference (not all 15" are equal I've learned) but they actually fit over my bare leg! I was floored. The reason I will only buy Fryes now is because the cobbler can stretch them out because the quality of the leather can hold up to it. I had this done to my Jane stitches and you would never know it and I can fit jeans into them now. I'm wearing the Melissa buttons today with just stockings and it looks like they were made for my leg. I'll get them stretched anyway so I can wear them with jeans. 3. They need breaking in. It's not too bad (today is the first day I'm wearing them) but they're rubbing against the back of my heels a bit (toward the top). 4. They are very true to size. The toe box for me is just enough to wiggle my toes but if you have wide feet you may run into some issues (that the cobbler may be able to help you with). If you want to wear thicker socks you may want to go a half size up. If you're not sure, get them anyway because Zappos has the best customer service ever. You can return them and get a different size. In summary, if you're on the fence about these, don't be. The boots are everything you ever wanted in a pair of boots and more and will last you forever. My Jane Stitches look brand new and I abuse them and wear them daily. In 4 years, I've replaced the sole 1 time but the leather and inside of the boots is perfect. I highly recommend these boots and Frye in general.

Being 5 feet tall/size 6 and also a runner, finding boots that fit over my calves can be a bit of a challenge. These boots were very snug when I first put them on- almost thought I would not be able to get it over my right calf. I wore them 3 days in a row to see if they would stretch out at all and they definitely did. They fit perfectly over skinny jeans, maybe still a bit snug over cords, but are otherwise fine. I got the chocolate vintage leather which is amazing in person- they are quite unlike anything else. I would say do not be afraid of the calf size if you have muscular calves- just were them a few times for the best results.

Wonderful boots, excellent craftsmanship, and a two year warranty. After wearing them for two years of pretty tough wear, I had a problem with the right boot, contacted Frye and they replaced them for free. It's rare to find that kind of customer service today!

I hardly need to add to the tons of rave reviews about the style of the Melissa Button Boots, but I do want to describe the color I chose: the chocolate vintage. It is very different. It is a medium brown without and red tones. It is extremely distressed does have traces of some shine. It is as though the boots had originally been a high gloss boot that you had worn every day out in the desert for about 10 years. The effect is hard to describe and more understated than you might expect: they invite you to look twice and check them out. This leather makes a tremendous impact without (in my opinion) looking tacky. If you like distressed, worn in boots the chocolate vintage may really call out to you. (Frye has so many different leathers that look similar on the screen but very different in real life, especially in black. It is very helpful to me when people write which particular leather they are describing.) I found the boots true to size and very comfortable. I run daily and so have muscular calves and have no trouble wearing them over my skinny jeans.

These are great boots, comfortable right out of the box, and true to size. The natural color is beautiful and I don't see myself on every corner, unique and stylish. The shaft is on the narrow side--still not slim enough for me with my skinny legs, but not gaping either. Great with a leg warmer peeking out the top.

Here is my review after wearing these boots for one month Design: I got the brown antique soft full grain boots and they looked just like the picture. Deep brown with a slight reddish tone. The side buttons and the top dips create a great silhouette from the front and back. I love the little bit of slouch at the ankle. While they are a western boot, they can be dressed up easily, and I wear them to my business casual (emphasis on the casual) workplace. Wear and Tear: I was disappointed that my boots have 2 spots where the stitching would probably come out a bit if I fiddled with it. I didn't notice this until I had worn them for a few days. It is a minor problem, but I was expecting perfect stitching for the price of the boot. I've gotten a few scuffs on the inside/front of each boot from the hard sole of the other boot grazing it, but it doesn't look out of place because of the other natural aberrations in the antiqued leather. The only traction is on the heel, but I haven't had any slips. The inner sole in one boot had an annoying bump near the ball of my foot at first, but that went away after a couple wears. Apart from that there was no real break-in period. No blisters! These boots are very comfortable and very warm! Sizing: In other shoes I am a 6 1/2; wide, or a regular 7. I ordered a 6 1/2; to start and tried on the boot with a sneaker sock. My foot made it in with a little effort (standing up, and with the help of the side tabs), but I didn't have any wiggle room. A friend of mine has had these boots for 2 years and said that my heel should be able to move up just a little with each step. I reordered the boot in a size 7 and they fit perfectly! There is a little extra room in the toe of the foot , but it does not look or feel strange. The boots fit nicely over my average-sized calves with leggings, tights, or skinny jeans.

These are beautiful boots! They're not as stiff as I expected compared to the ones I had in the late 1960's. I have had foot-morph over the years, and sometimes I wear a 9 and other times a 9.5. Since Zappos has such a fabulous return policy, I ordered both sizes and decided on the 9. They were a tad tight in the toes, so I wore them around with thicker socks for 2 days, and now it is perfection! I normally don't spend this kind of money on shoes/boots, but they were just what I was looking for, and hopefully they will last me many years.

I just received my boots in the dark brown brush off leather. Let me say, they are amazing. I am a very picky person who finds fault in almost everything. Not these. They were beautiful and it is the type of brown that will go with everything! Also, I have one foot a 6 and the other 6 1/2, and normally I get a 6 1/2 in most boots. I got the 6 and they fit great! It really is true that these boots run a 1/2 size small! Get them, you will not regret it, trust me!

These are my favorite boots ever! I love the look and the color (grey antique soft grain). The color is like a muddy grey and green color. They can replace your black and brown boots. I get compliments every time I wear them. It's a classic clean boot. I'm planning to purchase the shorter version soon. The first time I wore them they weren't so comfortable, after the first day they became my favorite.

Great looking bag. Sadly it was much larger than I expected (probably my own fault, I looked at a lot of purses before I ordered) and it made it too similar to a bag I already own. But if you're looking for a good size tote that is well made (I have never been dissatisfied with a Fossil purse purchase) go for it.

Color is actually very green. Not what I was expecting but I liked the color so I kept it. Still need a bag the turquoise color it looks like I've used it and it's a good size, well made and looks nice. Took off the plastic key. Very silly.
