  • Leather is from a BLC/ISO 14001 eco-certified tannery, which means they conduct their business by eco-friendly standards.
  • Heel and toecap are made of recycled car tire inner tubes that otherwise would have ended up at a dump, taking decades to degrade.
  • Recycled PET laces - which is a cool way of saying the laces are made from recycled soda bottles.
  • Certified organic cotton linings.
  • The bottom part of the shoe known as the "pedbed" is made of super soft and squishy polyurethane and recycled car tire.
  • The water-based glue used to hold the shoe together is a great alternative choice to the typical use of petroleum glue. Nice looking sneak and good for the cooler weather. I\'ve been wearing them everyday for the last 3 weeks. No arch support at all so if you have high arches be aware. However they are comfortable enough for me. The one thing that I noticed is that the shoe is a little on the small side. I normally wear a size 9.5 so when I checked the sizes on the tongue of the shoe it was US 9.5 and UK 8.5. I thought that the US and UK were only a half size off. Apparently the size is truer to UK so unless my pair was an anomaly, The US sizes are a half size off on the short size.

Comfortable, the low-slung back makes them easy to get off. I’ve owned Simples before and they last a good long time. Mostly, I like these because they look like primer-black hot rods with a red-wall stripe around each tire. There is no extraneous stitching and the wide-set eyes and grey shoelaces remind me of hockey boots.

I was looking for something a little retro (Converse leaves me feeling notoriously flatfooted) & came across Simple's Tuba Leather. Retro-stylish, comfortable for indoor, not particularly sweaty gym use & general tooling around &, because they're made from recycled materials, environmentally friendly. All that, & not too expensive, what more could you ask for? I was also looking at Pumas (fond college memories) & Adidas (they made an all terrain running shoe way back that was half running shoe half hiking boot that was light weight & super durable; the pair I had lasted over 5 years). Sadly, all the Puma reviews indicated that fit with Puma had become an issue (especially trying when you're shopping on-line; when is a size 10 not a size 10?) & even though Adidas has trotted out a few retro styles, that weird all terrain hybrid I loved so much is missing in action. The Simple Tuba Leather has filled the gap, for now, quite comfortably.

I just got these shoes, and they look better than I thought they would. They fit really well and look very trendy without screaming "look at me, I'm such a hipster!" Even though the shoes are made out of recycled material, you would never no it because the materials seem and feel to be of very high quality. The sole of the shoe is flat, but there is arch support, unlike, say a Converse. ***Important Sizing information*** Order 1/2 size bigger than your normal athletic shoe size. I wear 8 1/2 running shoes (Adidas, Nike, etc.) and a size 9 is perfect for me.

They are very good looking. Like all Simples I fit a 10.5 whereas with most other shoes I’m a 10, but these wear out VERY quickly.

First off these shoes are comfortable for the long haul! Since getting them a week and a half ago I've worn them everyday and my work days (standing on a cement floor) have been no shorter than 10 hrs. at a time. My feet and legs felt less fatigue then with other shoes (New Balance, Adidas). I'm glad I read a few other reviews about the sizing because going a half size larger was spot on. This is my second pair of Simple shoes; I really like the aesthetic of this company. They were definitely ahead of this whole "green" curve. I'd say buy these with confidence!

I really like this style of the Simple sneakers. They're comfy, durable, and they seem true to size. My only issue is that the tongue of the shoe is not very flexible and I got a bruise on the top of my foot at the top of the tongue. It's not a biggie though. These don't have the cushy soles that other Simple sneakers have but I know they'll last a long time.

When I ordered these Simple (Tuba Leather) shoes I also ordered pairs from Puma, Adidas, and Macbeth. The Simples are by far my favorite of them all (I returned all but these and the Macbeths - the Pumas and Adidas were horrible). I'm hard on shoes and have been beating these around for about 5 weeks and no signs of break-down yet. I even had to submerge them in a bucket of water for 24 hours because they got entirely covered in blood after an arm-through-a-window mishap. The blood soaked into the shoes for about 16 hours before I could get them submerged and except for a little discoloration in the laces, all stains came out completely! My only gripe is that when I first got them it felt as if one of the soles was a little thicker than the other. This worried me because my back and knee can get screwy if my shoes are screwy, but I haven't had any issues so far and I don't notice the same uneven feeling I did during the first few weeks of wearing the shoes. Thanks Simple for being a company that strives to use recycled and natural materials whenever possible. I respect and support that.

Totally satisfied customer and totally cool comfy. I spent 3 weeks walking through Berlin with them, looking good/feeling good.

Great shoe. Very comfortable and great to wear on the weekends. I ordered a 1/2 size larger and that was the right call for me. My only complaint is that the rubber treads seem to have some differences in thickness, which is probably due to the fact that they are recycled. But, after wearing a few times, they seem to have leveled out. I'll definitely buy from Simple again in the future.
