I love these boots! I was afraid that my wide calves would not fit but they did and with time, I am sure they will grow to be very comfortable. The heel is high but sturdy. It\'s summer time so I haven\'t tried them on, but I know they are going to rock. They are stylish and edgy but not over the top. Very cool boots.

Boot Addiction - If you haven't decided, the Matilda boot is just awesome. I went down a 1/2 size and the fit is perfect. No gaps except at the very top, where there is a little space. The boot is fitted. Thanks Zappos for the super fast overnight shipping! I brought them to the shoe cobbler to get the leather conditioned and weatherized. They marveled at the button detail. I can't wait to wear them.

I saw these boots back in October and wanted them immediately but just couldn't bring myself to spend the money. When I saw they were on sale and in the color and size I wanted, I snapped them up immediately and am SO glad I did. I have been searching for the perfect high-heeled vintage inspired boot for so long and have finally found it. I ordered a half size down and while the toe felt tight initially (I have very wide feet) after wearing them around the house for a few days, they are definitely stretching and breaking in. The shaft hits at just below my knee (perfect!), the leather is soft and great quality so as far as quality is concerned, these are definitely worth the price. The heel is HIGH, but not impossible to walk on and is the kind of thing that you just have to break in. Love these, love the way they look with skirts and dresses. They fit over skinny jeans, but are a little tight. I'd say if you are willing to spend the money, these are definitely worth it!

I normally wear a 9-9.5 size shoe so of course I ordered a 9.5. However, my ankle and heels were loose and the shaft of the boot was incrediblly loose around my calf. I\'m not a skinny legged person, nor are my calfs large, I\'m pretty average but these were incrediblly loose. I returned the pair and ordered them in an 8.5 instead. These fit like a dream! My heel and ankles were supported without being too tight, and the shaft fit wonderfully. It wasn\'t tight, nor was it loose. It was loose enough to wear with my pants tucked in but tight enough not to bag with a skirt.\r\nMoral of the story, I suggest a size down, or a half size down at least when ordering.\r\nThe original pair I ordered was the dark brown, which was nearlly black. However, the second pair was black, both were gorgeouse though.\r\nMy only real complaint was the complete and utter lack of padding! My poor feet were beyond barking and well into screaming after only a few hours of wearing. Definitlly invest in a good pair of insoles, you will be needing them.

These boots are absolutely gorgeous. I have wanted them for a very long time, and am so happy to finally have a pair! Everyone elses' reviews helped me to ensure that I did order the right size (9.5 rather than a 10), and Ii had no problems at all with the fit in the calf (I consider that I have average calves). Very well worth the investment.

Love these! Got them in brown, a very rich and deep color, they are very attractive with the brass buttons and very comfy, and the sole and heel are quiet on non-carpeted areas - I cannot stand that click-clacking of heels! The heels are high, but I find them very easy to walk in, drive with, and very comfortable as well. My only complaint is the shaft width. It was a fairly tight fit for me, although according to dimensions given it should fit well. I know that leather does give some, so it should be fine with wear soon. Just was not very impressed with having to fight them on... normally hate tight anything, but like everything, incl shoes, body skimming. Despite the initial fit issues, they possess all the usual great features of Frye's shoes, comfort, quality, good looks.

Walking on clouds in style: Once I saw these boots I had to have them. They are amazingly comfortable and stable. The leather is suburb quality inside and out and this boot is beautifully detailed everywhere. I found the Matilda to run large. I usually wear a 9 or 9 1/2 in a closed toe shoe or boot so I wasn’t sure which to order and started with the 9s since reviewers mentioned it ran large. They "fit", but my heel was slipping a just a tad. Knowing that good leather boots stretch, I ordered an 8.5. Zappos got them to me the next day! I found the smaller 8.5 fit better as it hugged my ankles and arch leaving me with room in the toe box. Perfect fit! I’m 5’8” with slim calves and cannot tuck my skinny jeans into these boots, however, thick leggings and tights work. Mostly, I plan on wearing them with dresses and skirts to show off the fabulous workmanship of my new favourite boots. Choosing the colour was the most difficult part of my transaction! I went with the black, but am eyeing out the brown or cranberry as I will surely break down and get a second pair and am certain to enjoy them for years. If you are thinking about getting these boots, get them now. You won’t be disappointed.

I think these boots run really big. I normally wear a 7.5, but those were huge on me. I probably could have gone a full size down to a 6.5, but I managed to snap up a size 7 at a huge discount, so those will work fine with a padded insert and some thicker socks. Also, I'm 5'4" and thought the shaft was the perfect height; it hit right at the knee in the front, and it's a little shorter in the back, so there are no issues with bending your legs or sitting down. But the best part of these boots is that the boot shaft fits like a glove! These are the first zip-up boots I've ever tried that don't poke out a little on the sides at the top. (My only other boots that fit this well are my pull-on suede Cole Haans from four or five years ago.) With most leather boots there's always that little bit of extra space at the top where the boots are too big, and that always bothers me. Why don't manufacturers realize that your leg gets narrower between the calf and the knee, and make the top part smaller? And why do they always make the ankle part so big that it slouches? Anyway, these boots don't have any of those problems, so they look like they were tailor-made for your legs! I'm surprised no one has mentioned that there is a small slit in the leather at the top with just a little bit of elastic underneath; so they definitely stretch, but not very much. This must be why they fit so well, even if it means they're a little tight when you zip them up. I didn't even notice the stretchy part when I tried on the black ones (it's completely covered by the leather) so it's not anything noticeable that takes away from the appearance of the boots. Now if only they'd bring back the grey ones! I want another pair of these!

I love these boots so much that after I bought them in the grey, I also bought them in black. They are just so stunning and I get compliments every time I wear them. I have narrow ankles and calves, and I always have the problem that the ankle is too baggy and makes me look like I have cankles, or the shaft is too big and I\'m swimming in them. I am also tall (5\'9") and I have trouble finding boots that are truly knee-high instead of hitting at some awkward point a few inches below my knee. These boots fit me perfectly in the ankle and the calf, and they are truly knee-high. They are absolutely worth the money. I\'d recommend getting some insoles because they do have a high heel and tend to get a little uncomfortable by the end of a day spent walking around in them.

The soles on these are non-slip and that suits me fine (Keen has a similar pair with their regular sole too). I don't wear these for work but I do put them to good use. I never concern myself with what is on the ground in front of me and that is where the non-slip soles come into play. No matter what I step in or on I keep my footing. The thick sole provides cushion but like someone else mentioned they are hard on the bottom and make noise when walking, a sort of thumpy sound. It does bring some attention to them and makes people think they are dressier shoes without traction, so when they see me walk on something they are amazed that I don't slip. A couple of incidents to point out the traction--a spilled soda with ice that I simply walked through it. If the ice didn't crunch under the sole I wouldn't have known it was there. A full carton of dropped eggs at a store--I was trying to be careful when getting my own eggs but I stepped on a couple of broken ones. When a lady asked me to get her a carton too but told me to be careful I showed her the non-slip sole and went ahead and just stood in the biggest part of the mess while I got her eggs. She liked the shoes and the way I could step wherever I wanted!

I needed another comfortable black shoe for work and play. These are now my new best shoes. One of the shoes was a little stiff on one side but after wearing them they soon stretched to conform to my foot. I simply enjoy them. They are very lightweight. The shoes arrived the next day. Thanks to Zappos quick attention.

This Keen Mary Jane has become a key part of my summer wardrobe. It’s not as wide as some Keens, but is nevertheless roomy. My feet sweat a lot in them, but they have this nice washable liner. I like the 2 inch lift, and it feels like a flat.

Love these shoes! With one exception, they squeak! But I just stuck a little tape under the end of the strap so it wouldn't rub and now they're silent. Fit is true to size and are great for all day work wear. Very slip resistant, except when packed with snow.
