I've had the same pair of
New Balance cross-trainers since 2002--so old; I don't even know what make they are! But they were great and I was hesitant to even part with them, but I figured it was time. These are great for everything at the
gym: elliptical, light treadmill (I tend to do a lot of uphill speed walking, for
hiking etc), weights, whatever. I tend to like my
athletic shoes to be gray or with more color, so I'm still waiting to dirty these up a bit--they're very white. But they're nice, and the gray-silver accents offset the glowy white thing. And most importantly, they're comfortable. Lots of support, good for my high arches, nice amount of cushioning. I wear a 6.5 in most shoes, but in NBs I wear a 7 (to wit, I also ordered a 6.5 in these, and they were too tight in the toe; 7 was perfect). I
swear by
New Balance. They're great for my high arches and wide toes (and I don't have to order a wide shoe size, which is key). And they always come in great styles etc.
