Beware! This is not the
slipper it used to be!
I've had a pair of these
slippers for ten years, and I love them. When the soles wore out, I purchased a new pair from Nordstrom's, and, within a week, the
slippers started to fall apart; peeling at the trim, separating the sole from the upper. Nordstrom's took them back without question, and the salesman gave me the following information:
First, as I suspected, the leather trim, which lasted on mine for ten years, had been replaced with plastic —hence, the disintegration I noticed on my new pair.
Second, production has shifted from the U.S. to China, and quality control has slipped to the point where Nordstrom's received many pair of
LB Evans shoes which were literally falling apart in the box.
Third, there were so many complaints that Nordstrom's people were considering making their own version of this
slipper which conformed to the prior quality.
Lastly, of course,
LB Evans was purchased by another company which was more interested in cutting costs than in a quality product.
Bottom line: I'm getting my old ones re-soled, and will never purchase a product with the
LB Evans label. Buyer beware!
