  • Based on the graphic novel by Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith, 30 DAYS OF NIGHT works overtime to pump fresh life into the vampire genre. Director David Slade (HARD CANDY) has created a series of pulse-pounding sequences, ripe with carnage, employing few tricks to keep his vision from getting lost in the seemingly tireless undertow of 'undead' films. Located in the northernmost part of Alaska, the town of Barrow experiences a complete lack of sunshine for an entire month once a year. The town is populated with tough, hardworking, and generally law-abiding citizens, so there hasn't been much for Sheriff Eben Olesen (Josh Hartnett) to do except brood over his separation from his fire marshall wife, Stella (Melissa George). As darkness descends for its annual 30-day night, though, a series of bizarre discoveries rocks the town--and very soon vampiric Marlow (Danny Huston) and his minions arrive, slaughtering and sucking on everyone they can catch, safe in the knowledge that they have much longer than usual until sunup. Eben, his little brother Jake (Mark Rendall), Stella, and a handful of others are forced to hide and fight for their lives until the sun returns.

    Overview
  • Clearly inspired by the sprinting zombies of Danny Boyle's 28 DAYS LATER and Zach Snyder's DAWN OF THE DEAD, Slade makes these vampires lightning-fast creatures of destruction. With ratlike makeup design indebted to NOSFERATU, they are effectively spooky. This is as much an action film as a horrific one. The lead-in time until the tale's initial fireworks is brief, and the pace thereafter is relentless. The script, co-written by Niles, is tense and avoids tension-killing humor that ruins so many contemporary studio horror efforts. 30 DAYS OF NIGHT never plays it safe; primary characters bite the dust, children fall into harm's way, and a lot of pretty white scenery turns red before our eyes.

Shoe review - The first day that I wore these I thought maybe I made a bad choice as my feet hurt at the end of the day. But once I broke the shoes in I was very pleased. I spent the last three days on my feet at a trade shoe and my feet do not hurt. I would recommend this shoe.

Just Right - I am delighted to have ordered these fun shoes. I was looking for something casual to wear with gray slacks and didn't want a sneaker or a boot. These are just right and I've had compliments on their appearance. Because of an old injury to one foot, I can't wear size 7B so am always on the lookout for 7Ws that don't leave my normal foot swimming. The 7W in this shoe fits just right and can be worn comfortably all day. They also make my feet look smaller. Great find!

Great daily wear shoe! My feet are not easy to find shoes that are comfortable and good looking, but these shoes fill the bill. No break in time, great out of the box.

Nice sporty shoe - This shoe is really comfortable and looks nice too. I ordered the narrow width but it feels a little wide still. It is fine with a little heavier sock.

Great shoe! You will have no complaints about this shoe. It is "casual" stylish. Great with slacks and really cute with jeans. It is comfortable from the first wearing and can be worn with ease all day. Have this black and gray.

Great shoes. These shoes fit very well (I have wide feet) and are comfortable. Great all around shoe.

Attractive, but Instant Blisters - The back top of the shoe is flexible and causes instant blisters on the heels. Otherwise, the shoe is attractive and the rest of it is comfortable.

Cute but not comfortable - Looks trim on my feet but they fit a little short. Also, not much support. I was looking for a walking shoe for travel.

I am happy with these, but they are not for walking distances. Nice with jeans. A little narrow for my 10 W feet. I think they are C width, but they are still okay. A little snug.

Not as satisfied as with other Naturalizers - I bought these shoes thinking they would be similar to some brown Naturalizers I bought on Zappos a couple years ago. I did not find these shoes to be comfortable or flexible. I liked the look but even as a narrow shoe, there was too much room in the heel and the size seemed a little small.
