This is hands down the best
hiking shoe I have ever owned. I bought my pair in 2004 (not from this website) and they are still in service. I tried on almost every brand under the sun before buying these as I am extremely picky about the fit of my
hiking shoes. They have held up to some extreme
hiking in the desert,
rocky summits, forest, streams, and anything else I can throw at them. I purchased them from a local shop in AZ, but having owned them for nearly six years now. I would not hesitate to buy these again even at double the price. When my pair finally gives it up (maybe in 3 or 4 more years). I will buy this pair of
boots again. I might even buy them now just so I have them on hand. I find myself exclaiming over and over again how much I love these shoes and how comfortable they are at the end of a long day of
hiking. The toe of this boot is also super durable and tough, perfect for
hiking in
rocky areas and keeping your toes comfy. I have a relatively average width foot, size 7, with somewhat high arches, and these things fit like a glove. I was able to hike with these the day I purchased them with very minimal break-in feel. While the look of the shoe was the last thing on my list in terms of importance. The overall look of this shoe is nice. There is a side benefit to the color scheme. It matches dirt! Great color choice if you want your
boots to look decent for as long as you can wear them. I would recommend finding a local store to try on any
hiking boot before purchasing online. Having said that, I tried on multiple shoes from
Salomon and they were pretty consistent in terms of comfort, quality, and fit and finish which cannot be said for many other budget conscious
brands/models. I rated the
arch support as moderate because I don't have super high of arches like some people and cannot attest to that level of support. A+ in my book!
