I *adore* these
sandals. I bought my pair almost four years ago when I was looking for a
sandal that would be comfortable enough for all the walking I do, but designed with a bit more flair than the stereotypical clunky, strappy
Birkenstocks. The black patent Helens were calling to me...and I haven't regretted the purchase. Super-comfortable, great
arch support, and the style and color
dress up and down, looking just as great with
shorts and
t-shirts as they do with floaty summer
dresses. I'm still happily wearing them years later, and the uppers still look great and the soles are in surprisingly good shape for all the walking they've done. Even a teething pit bull puppy chewing through one of the straps couldn't keep them down -- the nice folks at the shoe repair shop stitched the chewed ends back together, almost as good as new. These aren't cheap, but with a little care, you'll be able to get years of comfortable, good-looking service out of them...just don't leave them out around teething pups! ;)
