Absolutely the greatest shoes I've ever owned. I will wear these things until they fall apart and after that I'll have them bronzed and keep them on a shelf. Excellent support, fits comfortably even with orthopedic inserts, easy to hike in, great for long walks, and overall sweet kicks.I would and will suggest these shoes to everyone I know. 5 stars, A+, two thumbs up, best of the best, the shoes to end all shoes, etc. Awesome!

Montrail Hardrock 08 - At least my 5th purchase of Montrail Hardrock trail running shoes over the past few years. Excellent arch support for serious overpronator (use prescription orthotics). Very durable. Good solid toe protection. Firm feeling shoe, which gives the foot greater stability. The grip on the soles is much better than other trail running shoes for running down loose scree, which provides more confidence in loose terrain. My #1 choice for the rocky, technical trails I run. Have worn them in two trail 50Ks, so they're comfortable for a loooong time! I had to order 1/2 size smaller than normal, even w/orthotics. Also, added a small heel pad to snug up the heel fit.

Happy with Hardrock 08 - Perfect shoe for the coastal trails. I had ordered a brand before these that didn't fit well and didn't suit me..these are great and Zappos handled the exchange very efficiently and managed to get the Montrail to me before I left on vacation. Very happy with the shoe and the service!

I am a mild-moderate overpronator. I bought these shoes (my first Montrails) to run on trails (technical and improved) and on the treadmill. I tend to have hip and knee pain if my shoes don't fit properly. I have had these shoes for a month and each time I have worn them, I am 100% pain free. They are the most supportive, lightweight trail shoes (and road, for that matter) that I've ever purchased. I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER PAIR OF TRAIL SHOES AS LONG AS THEY MAKE HARDROCKS! I ordered a half-size larger to accommodate trail socks. If you are a runner and do a few races on trails, I strongly suggest that you give these shoes a try. Thanks for reading!

Everything I wanted - First let me say Zappos is the best. Ordered this shoe in the early afternoon and it arrived the next morning. I have plantar fasciitis and need a good arch support and these shoes have it. I also like the way my heel really feels secure. I put the shoe on and have worn it day after day with no problems at all. It's probably the best shoe I've worn for my foot problems. I don't even need my orthotics. A truly great supportive shoe!!!

These shoes are overall really comfortable. So far, my toes are still getting pretty rubbed (hence the 3 star rate for comfort), but I hope that they will toughen up soon. Other than the toe rubs, they're very comfortable. I got these shoes because I wanted to get a good looking shoe that I could also use for walking to work and class. Great for walks and the sole is rubber, so I'll be able to wear it in the winter without slipping all over the place. The stitching on these shoes is a little more cow-girlish than I expected, but I still think it adds great character. Also, any color sock can be work with these shoes for added warmth and comfort without looking totally stupid. Overall, I would buy these shoes again. I love Clarks.

Perfect Trail/Light Backpacking Shoe - I bought these shoes for backpacking in the Sierras. I have a slightly wide foot and these were a perfect fit. I ordered these in my true size and a 1/2 larger and ended up going with the 1/2 larger since I'm using these for backpacking and wanted to avoid the inevitable "toe-bang" often experienced during descents. The slightly longer shoe was the best choice especially since, after hiking all day with a pack, your feet swell. My toes had plenty of room to wiggle but my heel and arch remained supported and "locked-in". I made only a few adjustments at the start of my hike (adding a lace-lock knot to secure the fore-foot area laces looser than the ankle area laces) then felt like I was walking on air the rest of the day. The full TPU plate in the sole and raised heel gives this shoe a springy forward thrust which is great when you feel you can't go on. :) My feet never became fatigued (never you mind my legs) and I nearly forgot to remove them upon arrival in camp. This shoe had excellent traction in diverse trail conditions: rocky, sandy, mossy, muddy, etc. My husband now wants a pair after I raved about how great these were ALL DAY, everyday! I highly recommend this shoe for people with regular to wide width feet. I don't know if these will work for narrow feet. This shoe is very light, yet stable, and perfect for light backpacking. I would not suggest this for super heavy pack weights (greater than 30lbs). Happy travels! :)

Second Montrail purchase--wish the other color had been available. I found this shoe to be instantly comfortable and accommodate my need for a wide width due to a bunion. Other reviews mentioned purchasing a larger size, I did not and the sizing was perfect.

High arch relief at last! After 2 years of heel pain, I finally figured out the pain was due to lack of arch support. Orthotics were even worse. I bought 3 pairs of Montrail Hardrocks: one for trail running, one for daily wear and one for "slippers." The reason is because to relieve heel pain, the arch must support some weight 100% of the time, not JUST when running. I use cush runners in training.

Love these shoes! These are the first pair of Montrail running shoes I have ever owned and I really love them. They were true to size and offer good arch support. I usually run on trails that are rocky and uneven. These shoes have great traction and I have never slipped, even when hiking on a steep slope with slippery dirt. They are great and I like them even more than a pair of hiking shoes I bought. I highly recommend them.

Most comfortable boot I've ever had. Can be adjusted to size of calf. Warm, waterproof, easy on and off with side zipper.

Runs big! I usually wear a 7 in a closed toe shoe, but I should have gotten the 6.5 or a 6. Very beautiful boot and good construction.

Great boot! Looks great with skinny jeans, and they do run a bit big, but I ordered my size and put in a lambskin insert. Keeps my feet warm and makes them fit perfectly.

Great boots. Love the side zip; easy on and off. They were a little stiff across the top of my big toes and I got some soreness there. With time, that stiffness has gone away. These boots look great with skirts. I'll get a lot of wear out of them this winter. I'll just wear thermals and smart wool knee socks. Bliss.

I thought this boot was cheaply put together for the price and didn't have the insulation that my Sorel boots have. I don't see how my foot would have not been cold in this boot, as the insulation was minimal and because the 'tongue' of the boot (under the laces) is not completely closed and you can have gaps across the front of your shin. When you unzip the boot, the leg shaft flops and you have to keep the tongue or flap (which ever you would like to call it) from folding over on itself, which is how you end up with the gaps of exposed leg with this boot. You can see that it is only being held in place by the laces. I suspect that you can loosen or tighten the laces. I didn't try to do this because I found the boot to be difficult to put on. Granted, I'm recovering from a broken foot, but the very bottom metal hooks that the laces are running through fold into the top of the boot when you are trying to put your foot into it and it was painful for my recovering injury. It is a pretty boot, but I wouldn't consider this a warm boot for weather below 20 degrees in the winter.
