I was looking for a sturdy boot to wear in the snow, that had good traction and kept my feet warm. These are great boots and keep my feet nice and warm while my husband and I are out playing with our son in the snow. This boot provides good support and has good traction in snow and on ice as well. I originally thought they'd be too stiff, but I find the support just right for me. These will also work well with snowshoes (they have that ridge at the back of the heel), which was a consideration also, since I'm getting into that. I am just shy of a true 8.5, but find the shoe is fine with just my thin Smartwool socks (just slightly on the roomy side). They will accommodate thicker socks too. If you are going to be out in the snow, I don't think you can go wrong with these.

I ordered this boot on Wednesday night. Previously I had ordered another item on Monday. Both with regular shipping. However, Zappos upgraded my shipping for the boots at no extra charge and I just received it a couple of hours ago. Both items. I am so pleased with how fast it was shipped to my house. I read most of the reviews and ordered a half size up. I'm usually a 9 and I ordered a 9.5. The boot fits exactly how it should with a little extra room. I am extremely happy with this purchase. I will definitely be buying from Zappos in the future. I do not know how well they are going to do in the snow. I have a North Face jacket that keeps me extra toasty so I have no doubts in my mind that these boots won't live up to that same standard. Happy shopping.

I love these boots! 21 inches of snow and 4 hours of shoveling, and my feet were warm and snuggly the entire time! These boots are a little narrow, so I just wear a light sock; these boots are so warm there is no need for a heavy sock anyway. Gave 4 stars for comfort because they are a little stiff.

The North Face McMurdo boot is great. I am a big baby when it comes to cold weather, but fortunately since receiving these boots I have not experienced cold feet. I did order up a half size as many have recommended and am happy that I did. The boots are well made and I would recommend them without hesitation.

I discovered my old boots were falling apart when it snowed in early December, and ordered these ASAP. Love the fast shipping. Since that first snow, we've had almost 3 feet more, and I wear these every day to and from the office and while running errands. They keep my feet very warm (the windchill yesterday was -30, but my feet were nice and toasty running errands after work). Initially, they were a little stiff, but they've loosened up and are very comfortable. I wear a 7 in every other shoe I own, and ordered these in a 7, perfect fit.
