Divine, indulgent, pure decadent luxury! Quality of a bygone era! This is a true heirloom/investment piece, one that will last generations. If you think this is a bit expensive (I did, initially), know that historically, the booming wool blanket manufacturing industry of Northeast United States and Canada, lasted about 150 years from the 1800's - early/mid 1900's, when the industry died out- unable to compete with emerging polyester blankets at a fraction of the cost, and washable (whoo-hoo!). Since the end of that era (mid 1900's), there are no quality wool blankets that we can buy for a fairly inexpensive price, of this level of high quality! Also, European wool blankets can be found (in Europe, should you happen to have a spare plane available), the cost is generally same for an entry level quality wool blanket to much higher for better/best quality. Also: this Pendleton heirloom measures 90" in length. That is long (for wool). It covers my feet entirely. In contrast, the standard Euro loomed wool blanket length is 200 cm- (just under 79"). Euro wool blankets are available, in Europe, at high cost, and in all-around smaller dimensions. Sleeping under this blanket is cloud-like! It seems to float over the body, miraculously warm and cozy, no-itch (zip/zilch/nada/itch!), and not hot. The trick is in the densely loomed wool yarn- light & airy, yet not a single iota of wool shedding, piling, nor release of fibers in any way! It is satin bound on all four sides- beautifully constructed! Fabric matches wool perfectly, for a simple, solid color look. This blanket not only feels and performs as the best blanket that money can buy - it also lends a sleek, clean, simple base / backdrop, for endless textures / fabrics to combine to create a bedroom decor. I even have an Aran, Irish knit, merino wool, classic fisherman's sweater knit-pattern throw on my bed. The cream tone and rich texture of the throw, against this plain natural / neutral Pendleton wool blanket, is rich rich! Add a vase of fresh flowers, & some white cotton-cased queen sized down pillows- there! You have rich people decor. My tag states "100 percent pure virgin wool - dry cleaning recommended". Wool blankets should be washed rarely, if at all. This blanket will easily last 50-100 years with proper care - do not make the mistake of washing it once/annually! After just 35 years, that would = 35 launderings! Wool blankets really do not need to be routinely laundered - rather, spot clean only! The natural lanolin in the wool, naturally renders it liquid and stain resistant. Washing removes this protective barrier, which occurs naturally in fine wool, protects it from staining, and give wool its supple feel. Avoid cleaning - it is your blankets' worst enemy. Since this blanket will last a lifetime with proper care, I suggest to consider color carefully - what is your "white" blanket going to look like, the wool naturally aged in 40 years of use and closet storage? Will the light blue suit your decor, 40 years from now? Just food for thought. If you want to experience a decadently luxurious night's sleep, as it were 100 years ago, put the fleece blankets away, (better yet, toss them entirely!), and scoop at least one of these true treasures, before they go out of business, and can no longer be had at any price. A lifetime of luxurious sleep is priceless! If too warm in 90° summer temperatures, well, you are not using fleece then either - 100 percent cotton rules. A few words of caution. This is a pet-magnet! They go wild to sleep on this blanket! Also, are you or the intended recipient, allergic to wool? If not, does your skin tolerate wool? My daughter has such extremely sensitive skin, she cannot tolerate even the finest of cashmere- says "It' is so itchy!" - problems in winter with chapping/dryness, just very porcelain/delicate/sensitive skin, and cannot tolerate anything wool. One more thing - if you are considering buying one of the alpaca blankets so affordably and amply flooding the market right now - beware! They are 50/50 alpaca and poly. They are stated as "pure alpaca wool." If you are lucky enough to find an honest seller, & you explicitly ask if it is 100 percent wool with nothing else added, he will admit it is constructed of 50 percent polyester. Then go on to explain why that is even better. Do you want a half polyester blanket? Alternatively, if you are unlucky to locate a dishonest seller, he will simply continue the lie and insist the blanket is pure alpaca. He may not know it himself. If 100 percent top quality, pure alpaca wool, in size large queen blanket, for a low price, sounds too good to be true... Trust your instincts. We get what we pay for, no? Thanks again for your patience! After all that - if you have no problems, buy this blanket - better yet, buy several, if you can! (I have four in twin size, may get one more in queen!). Thanks for reading this long review. Best.
