My first trail shoe. Fits like a glove. Minimalistic, yet very comfortable, even on the road. Can easily go into long runs 16-20 miles on these. This is my second pair of Pear Izumi's. Loving the quality and my running performance is improving significantly.

I had to look inside and double-check the size. The shoe feels way smaller than the marked size, even though I thought I was ordering it big. It is shorter and narrower than expected. Also, the width spanned by the laces is unusually wide, leaving one of the lacing eyelets directly and painfully over for the first big-toe joint. Think about that if you have wide, bony feet. Out of the box, these shoes hurt.

I Purchased a size 10.5 and I normally get a 1/2 size bigger for comfort. Be advised these shoes run small. Though Zappos customer service was awesome helping me I highly recommend not making the same mistake and go ahead and order them one size bigger. Overall shoe is very comfortable and has great traction and very light weight.

I bought these shoes a few months ago specifically for the Captain Thurmond's Challenge August 20th 2011 at the New River Gorge in Fayetteville WV. This race consists of Mountain bike, kayak, and then a punishing 8 miles of trail running and steep hiking! I appreciated that the soles are narrow, which made it easier to place footsteps avoiding rocks and roots. They never threw my ankles sideways in the least and it really felt like these shoes were in their element on the trail. No discomfort even when I did step on something jagged. I'm pleased. Sizing: I normally wear a tight 10.5, these are a tight 11.5, order a full size up from normal. Thanks Zappos for the great return policy on my first pair of size 11.

Killer looking shoe. Fits well and has an excellent integrated tongue construction. Overall doesn't feel very minimalist. Other than the positives above, kind of felt like a decade old Asics. I went with the Salomon Fellcross as I wanted something with a more aggressive tread. Definitely runs small. At least a size.
I'd also recommend: Salomon
