The top rain jacket on the market today; it is worth every penny. The waterproof zips are top notch, and who wants a lot of velcro on their jacket anyway? The grey with yellow zippers is sharp and gets noticed. As always, Patagonia gear will last for years, and this will be a valued piece for years....I pray for rain!

Lightweight, compact when necessary, stylish. What more can one ask for!? Oh, I know, to pedal my bicycle for me when a strong headwind persists. Great product.

Stylish, simple and pretty much impenetrable by rain. Zips way up above the chin for full coverage. The zipper was a pain in the ass to get used to or break in (not sure which), but is fine now. I hear that's common with the water-tight zippers. Like most waterproof shells, it can get a little sweaty, but that's when the seemingly extra-long pit zips come in handy. Recommended.

I bought this in the light gecko green for my husband. He looks absolutely fabulous in it and the jacket gets him compliments from the most unexpected people. The fabric is soft and quiet, the shape and detailing as far as the seams and fit are flattering, and the gecko green is absolutely gorgeous! I don't think he has worn it in heavy rain yet, so I can't say if it is fully waterproof. Honestly, it looks so good that even if it isn't it was a good purchase.

The hood strap broke the first time I used it. Zipper is very difficult to zip up. Sleeves and jacket in general feel cheap. I am planning on returning this jacket for another one or getting a refund.
Brands I'd also recommend: North Face instead

About Patagonia
Patagonia's values reflect those of a business that started as a band of climbers and surfers who wanted to stay out as long as they can, doing what they love, no matter the weather. Patagonia's design approach to every product, from technical shells for snow and ice, to moisture-wicking underclothes, to everyday clothes, demonstrates a functional bias toward simplicity and utility. Quality is impeccable, and the guarantee lifelong.
Patagonia's love of wild and beautiful places demands participation in the fight to save them and to help reverse the steep decline in the overall environmental health of the planet. They use organic cotton; most polyester is recycled. They give moral support - and 1% of sales, $25 million to date - to hundreds of grassroots environmental groups in the U.S., Europe and Japan.

2nd time around. I got this for my husband about ten years ago and liked it so much I bought the womens version in red. We used everywhere from tropics to tundra. What finally gave out was the inner layer. The gray stuff started to flake off. But after researching everything else out there we are getting two more Rain Shadows. If not that Patagonia's Torrentshell, which is basically the same.
