You'll have to pry this jacket off my dead body, because this may be the most comfortable piece of clothing I've ever worn. I'm not sure to what occasion I wouldn't want to wear this. Added to my collection of Patagonia goodies.

The Patagonia R2 jacket has a good, trim fit which will layer well with shells. Much more attractive than most loose fitting fleeces out there. The fleece material on this jacket is extremely soft and comfortable. While not absolutely necessary, I would have liked some performance features like collar, cuff and waist cinches.
Brands I'd also recommend: Patagonia, Arcteryx, Mountain Hardware

Love Patagonia products; however, I did not like the oversized left flap on jacket collar. The R2 is better for layering. If you want a fleece jacket to wear by itself I would recommend the Better Sweater. If you want something to wear in cold/winter weather I would recommend the R4 jacket. The R2 is soft and comfortable but it's definitely made to be a base layer for extreme cold and/or winter sport.

I love this jacket, it's lightweight and warm, perfect for the Bay Area winter. I am a tall guy (6'5) and so the other thing I like about the jacket, it that the sleeves are longer than is typical for an XL jacket and so for me the fit is perfect.

I love Patagonia, but I have one big complaint about this jacket. Putting it on and taking it off is an arduous task. There is no liner in the sleeves, so the fleece tugs on your shirt, forcing you to almost tear it off, rather than gracefully slide them off. Once on though, its very comfortable and light weight.

About Patagonia
Patagonia's values reflect those of a business that started as a band of climbers and surfers who wanted to stay out as long as they can, doing what they love, no matter the weather. Patagonia's design approach to every product, from technical shells for snow and ice, to moisture-wicking underclothes, to everyday clothes, demonstrates a functional bias toward simplicity and utility. Quality is impeccable, and the guarantee lifelong.
Patagonia's love of wild and beautiful places demands participation in the fight to save them and to help reverse the steep decline in the overall environmental health of the planet. They use organic cotton; most polyester is recycled. They give moral support - and 1% of sales, $25 million to date - to hundreds of grassroots environmental groups in the U.S., Europe and Japan.
