Patagonia's values reflect those of a business that started as a band of climbers and surfers who wanted to stay out as long as they can, doing what they love, no matter the weather. Patagonia's design approach to every product, from technical shells for snow and ice, to moisture-wicking underclothes, to everyday clothes, demonstrates a functional bias toward simplicity and utility. Quality is impeccable, and the guarantee lifelong.
Patagonia's love of wild and beautiful places demands participation in the fight to save them and to help reverse the steep decline in the overall environmental health of the planet. I bought two of these bags after doing some extensive research on bags for one bag travel. My husband and I just returned from two weeks in Italy and this was all we carried. We were able to use the backpack feature when walking from transport to housing. It was very comfortable. It held enough clothing for two weeks.

Bought two (one for myself and one for my husband) and we love them! My husband commented on why we didn't buy these sooner? Lots of room. The bag is much bigger than you think and is fairly light to carry compared to the usual rolling bag. Love that there are separate compartments that can be used for things like dirty clothes. The backpack straps are a great feature, makes it so nice to carry when traveling since your hands are free. Fits in the overhead perfectly. I am a petite person (5'2 97lbs) and felt that the back pack was comfortable to wear for short time periods. My only complaint is totally minor! The straps on the inside of the main compartment that you can tighten to hold the clothes down are a bit tough to loosen. I really have to work to loosen or tighten them. But totally minor!A really great carry on bag!

This is soft-sided making it perfect for over 10 days of travel. It has a super high quality build. I did a ton of research between this bag, the Red Oxx and the Tom Bihn. All were great bags, but I went with the Patagonia because I like the company, and honestly the color was the best out of the bunch. The price was the best as well. There are five compartments. One huge middle one for clothing. Two on the top flap; one for whatever you like, one for phone, pens, etc. It works great to grab boarding passes and to put essentials in. One comprtment on the back which I use as a clothes hamper for dirty clothes or shoes. And one which holds the backpack straps. You can also fit shoes or a coat in there. I love that there are four options and believe me you will use them all at some point. One side handle, one top handle (great for getting it into and out of the overhead bin), an over the shoulder strap (with great padding) and the back pack option. The backpack straps are very comfortable and really come in handy. You just clip them to secure and throw it quickly on your back. There is also a handy toiletry clip in bag that goes in the main compartment. It works perfectly to fill and then hang when you get to your destination. If you pack this full, it will be heavy but everything will fit and then some. I could easily live out of this for over three weeks if needed. Overall, it is a super bag, that is reinforced in all the right places and stylish to boot. Remember, it is soft sided though, so it has no structure except for what you put in it. I never had a problem carrying it on any flight yet. It is highly recommended.
I'd also recommend: Red Oxx, Tom Bihn

We love this bag. It's great to use as a backpack because the clothes stay in place, especially if you need your hands free when traveling with young children. It's perfect size for overhead bins on the plane. We also looked into the one with the wheels but that's quite a bit heavier.
I'd also recommend: REI or Tumi

This is a great Bag! I just packed everything I needed for a two week trip that spanned from Mexico to Italy. It is well laid out, shockingly large and comfortable to carry. It is one of the best luggage purchases that I have made in a long time!
