This backpack is a bright shade of orange that really stands out in a pile of other bags. So far it is sturdy and well made. I am using it as a diaper bag and the pockets it has really helps. The straps do not dig into my shoulders like some have in the past. I look forward to using this when we hike. Baby Girl just has to get a little bigger.

Great backpack. It's lightweight and minimalist, with a lot of space. Most of that space is in the single main compartment, which has a nice, simple laptop sleeve and pencil and phone pockets. There are a couple small and unobtrusive exterior pockets for convenience, but no chest straps, waist straps, or other annoying, dangly stuff. It's a nice color, and the nylon fabric is way nicer than the polyester used on most "name brand" backpacks at this price. I tested it briefly and it feels comfortably. At first I was worried the shoulder straps were too close together, but when I put a couple pounds of stuff in the bag, it felt perfect. The only negative is a low interior pocket with a Velcro closure -- that will be a sweater-snagger. Strangely, the first one of these I ordered showed up with its tag cut off, so I ordered another one and it showed up intact. I'll use this bag for easy day trips, and as a carry-on bag for travel, etc.

Awesome pack. The color is true to the photo here at Zappos. It has lots of extra zipped pockets and a spot for my water bottle. The size is enough to accommodate several heavy school books and many notebooks. It's possible to carry a 15 inch laptop too, but it does decrease the load potential. All in all, a great bag.

I bought this backpack for my husband as a birthday present. He is a college student, and he uses it every day! It is high quality backpack with a large pocket for the laptop. It appears to be waterproof, outside and between the pockets. It is a keeper.
Brands I'd also recommend: North Face

This backpack works really well. The color I got had black on the bottom so it does not get too dirty. Overall it works pretty well an if I ever need another I will probably buy this same brand.

About Patagonia
Patagonia's values reflect those of a business that started as a band of climbers and surfers who wanted to stay out as long as they can, doing what they love, no matter the weather. Patagonia's design approach to every product, from technical shells for snow and ice, to moisture-wicking underclothes, to everyday clothes, demonstrates a functional bias toward simplicity and utility. Quality is impeccable, and the guarantee lifelong.
Patagonia's love of wild and beautiful places demands participation in the fight to save them and to help reverse the steep decline in the overall environmental health of the planet. They use organic cotton; most polyester is recycled. They give moral support - and 1% of sales, $25 million to date - to hundreds of grassroots environmental groups in the U.S., Europe and Japan.

I absolutely love this bag. I previously owned a Targus Groove backpack made especially for 17" laptops and this bag beats it hands down. The Patagonia is sturdy and has just as many pockets yet is more compact and light, which is important when you are petite (5'0") This bag is extremely comfortable. The straps are wide and well padded. I use it everyday for work. I am sure it would also work great as a daypack. The deep side pockets are great for holding tall water bottles! That is the best feature! I went with the mango color and I get lots of compliments.
