Absolutely love this bag. I got my first one nearly nine years ago and finally thrashed it this year. It's sturdy, easy to pack, and high quality. If you travel a lot, having a great bag is critical. This was a must have for me.

It is Patagonia, so the quality, fit, and finish are exceptional. I travel for a living, so it was a leap of faith to go with a consumer brand. I usually use industrial model luggage which weighs a lot, but wears well. This bag is everything I hoped it would be. It is light, sturdy, and stylish. It rolls beautifully and quietly. I am very tall, so the handle is as short as it could be. If you are shorter than 6'4", it is tall enough. If the bag is less-than-stuffed, it will fit snugly in an overhead compartment on most narrow body jets having at least five seats per row in coach. Commuter jets or regional jets all require luggage of this size to go below. As usual, the little jet baggage handlers abuse your bags, and my bag suffered on the first trip. The upper plastic and handle were badly scraped, though not mechanically damaged. Any bag would have suffered. This bag will hold everything you need for short trips. If you are an experienced traveler with state-of-the-art travel products, you do not need another bag. This bag, and a day pack for excursions, will take you anywhere in the world without compromise. The only improvement I would make would be to add or move the grab handle to the very top. Porters do not know quite wear to grab the bag and wind up laying it flat on its back, even in inclement weather.
Brands I'd also recommend: Luggage Works, Purdy Neat

About Patagonia
Patagonia's values reflect those of a business that started as a band of climbers and surfers who wanted to stay out as long as they can, doing what they love, no matter the weather. Patagonia's design approach to every product, from technical shells for snow and ice, to moisture-wicking underclothes, to everyday clothes, demonstrates a functional bias toward simplicity and utility. Quality is impeccable, and the guarantee lifelong.
Patagonia's love of wild and beautiful places demands participation in the fight to save them and to help reverse the steep decline in the overall environmental health of the planet. They use organic cotton; most polyester is recycled. They give moral support - and 1% of sales, $25 million to date - to hundreds of grassroots environmental groups in the U.S., Europe and Japan.
