I like that this has the functionality and durability of a hiking boot, but looks like a sneaker. It\'s definitely a heavier weight, and I find I need to wear thicker socks to prevent chafing. My feet feel protected in these - love the reinforced toe area as well as the very grippy tread. I still have to see how they fare in wet conditions, but so far so good.

Bought these shoes for a vacation in Aspen, CO (September 2010) for some light hiking. They are awesome. I struggled between these and the Merrell's but in the end like the look and feel of these much better. Yes, they are heavier but for me that is preferred when hiking. I would recommend these without hesitation for light hiking. It doesn't hurt that they are super cute.

I bought these for a six day hiking trip in Spain. I was looking for something less bulky than my hiking boots but still sturdy enough for hiking 10-12 miles per day. I bought these at the last minute and was worried I hadn\'t broken them in but they were comfortable from the first day. Exactly what I needed.

This is a great shoe for day hikes or just getting around town. I recently took a trip to Maine and wore these shoes almost exclusively. They look and feel great on the trail, and they still look decent with a pair of khakis at dinner. The weather in Maine was high 40's during the day and my feet were not cold at all. I've also worn them in high temps into the 90's and my feet felt comfortable. I would recommend the A/Cs over the standard drifter unless you plan on wearing them in mostly 40 degrees and below. Nice arch support; I needed a half to full size bigger than normal. I typically wear a 9 or 10; I had to return a pair and order the 10, and now they fit like a glove. Keep in mind that they are a bit bulkier than a trail running shoe. More of a hiking shoe.

About Patagonia
Patagonia's values reflect those of a business that started as a band of climbers and surfers who wanted to stay out as long as they can, doing what they love, no matter the weather. Patagonia's design approach to every product, from technical shells for snow and ice, to moisture-wicking underclothes, to everyday clothes, demonstrates a functional bias toward simplicity and utility. Quality is impeccable, and the guarantee lifelong.
Patagonia's love of wild and beautiful places demands participation in the fight to save them and to help reverse the steep decline in the overall environmental health of the planet. They use organic cotton; most polyester is recycled. They give moral support - and 1% of sales, $25 million to date - to hundreds of grassroots environmental groups in the U.S., Europe and Japan.

I love this hiking shoe. I have had 5 pair of these. They provide excellent support. This last pair they changed the laces, which is good. The laces used to wear out quickly. I hope these hold up better.

The shoes are comfortable out of the box, and I like the look, too. They will meet my needs for a hiking shoe for a trip to Patagonia next month. As always, Patagonia products are awesome!

These shoes are absolutely fabulous! They are comfortable and have plenty of room for your toes to spread out. They felt a tiny bit bigger than marked, but not enough to feel a half size bigger. They have an excellent tread and can grip on a variety of surfaces. I even wear these with jeans and they're super cute! People also comment on how detailed they are. A great shoe!

Since these are the first hiking shoes we have owned (we both have a pair), so are so good. The are as advertised: comfortable, durable, quality made, and good value. Not the most stylish, but who cares these are for hiking not going to the club. And of course, Zappos seals the deal with the very fast shipping. Patagonia + Zappos = great buy!

Amazing from day one! By far the best hiking shoe I have ever worn. In addition to day hikes, I just wore them all over a trip in Turkey where we explored the ruins of the seven churches of Revelation. Lots of walking, hills, uneven terrain...not once did my feet hurt or did I feel unstable. Buy them today! I did get a half size bigger based on other reviews.

Tried many but decided on this Patagonia for great support and comfort. Hiked in Zion for days and not a single blister. Needs a little time to break it in, but worth the effort. As usual Zappos delivered on the next day!

Wahoo! Finally, these felt great right out of the box. After trying 5 other hikers, I've chosen these. They are so comfortable, I decided to wear them to work (teaching) to make sure I could hike this weekend. I love them. Comfort!

I love this shoe, so much so that I'm ordering another pair to save for when these wear out. They're supportive and comfortable on long hikes. My first outing was a seven mile hike in the mountains with no blisters and no pain. They're also fun and attractive. I've been surprised at how many compliments I get. After all, they're a hiking shoe! They're now my favorite shoe for any kind of walking whether it's a rugged hike or a long walk to a sporting event or concert. Good job Patagonia!

Did well first time out, put 10 miles on them after just one afternoon of wear around the house break in the day before. Good support, bit heavy, but great for light trail work. Helped me get through some deep powdery dirt areas my previous shoes weren't quite able to assist with due to shallower lugs. The last is better for narrow heels than Lowa, I felt the arch support was decent as well, but I would suggest replacing the insole with an OTC version having a bit more cushion in the ball of the foot if you do long distances (I generally do 10-20 miles at a pop).

These shoes are great! They have a very firm bottom with thick treads which make them easier for walking on gravel and rocks- they almost feel more like a boot. They have a roomy toe box, they're breathable (but not too much like a running shoe) and they just feel very supportive on my feet. I have an extremely high arch and plantar fasciitis, nothing gives me the arch support that I need but these shoes don't make my feet hurt even when hiking and wearing them all day.
