Very sturdily constructed -- perfect for my daily off-trail fieldwork. (I switched to these from Merrells because those didn't hold up well.) Comfortable from the start -- no break-in was needed. My only quibble is that I wish it had metal hooks in place of the top one or two shoelace holes to make lacing a bit easier.

Liked the Non-Goretex version of these shoes so much, I ordered these. However, sizing definitely runs smaller. Needed to return for next half-size up.

I got these for hiking and morning walks in a wet grassy field/trails. All of my other shoes left me with wet feet. I got the bigger size so I could wear thick hiking socks. They were comfortable right out of the box. Great support. A bit stiff, but that is normal with a trail shoe for stability. Haven't tested them in a stream or deep puddle yet. If they are true to Patagonia quality, they will hold up well. This is my first pair of their shoes.

Brands I'd also recommend: dansko, keen, mephisto, gentle souls, tsubo

I bought these for my wife. I also bought the men's version for myself. She likes the fact that we have matching shoes and I like the fact that we both have very durable and rugged hiking shoes for our upcoming hike. Either way, we're both happy!

The most comfortable hiking shoes I have worn. I usually wear shoes with comfort in mind such as Merrell, and New Balances and this is my new all time favorite shoe.

I wanted a lightweight shoe with more substance than a standard running shoe. This shoe is excellent. It is comfortable, good arch support, and lightweight. Comfortable to wear and looks good.

After two tries with the plain A/C, which I needed to establish a size, then found out they were not waterproof, I ordered the GTX. First pair were defective in right shoe. Hole between inner/outer material. Sent back for another pair. Second pair also defective. Right shoe was definitely shorter than the left shoe! My toe was beyond the front of shoe. Sent back for third pair! They are perfect! They fit extremely well. No defects either. The shoes are well made and are waterproof! Need that in the Pacific NW. Thank you Zappos for your understanding and your quick response in sending out the the 5 pairs of shoes! I also took out the insoles and added the Superfeet insoles and the fit is outstanding!

My last statement said these shoes run large. In fact they run a whole size small! I'm a solid 10 and had to go up to a size 11. They are very comfortable with Superfeet insoles! Great hiking shoe!
